The death of this English legend has just been announce, aged 83. One of the names that I remember from my youth, a great batsman and fine gentleman.

He was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2000 but lived long past the seven years he was given at that time and died of natural causes at his home in Scotland.

Good article about him here :- https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/55445972

RIP John.

Sadly J E was not the only England cricketer to pass away this weekend, Nellie.

Robin Jackman the bowler has also died, albeit rather younger at 75, but yet another who fought illness bravely, in 'Jackers' case it was cancer. As both were Surrey County and England players the ranks are thinning swiftly this year.

May they both Rest In Peace.
