I'm a bit late posting this but sadly on Wednesday last week Ray Wilson passed away aged 83.

Ray was a member of the England World Cup winning side who played in all six matches of that competition. At the time Ray was playing for Everton but he had played most of his football for Huddersfield Town.

Ray was my all time favourite Town player and I was privileged to have seen him play. He was one of the first if not the first attacking full back.

The word legend is too often used today but for me and thousands of Town and Everton fans he was a true legend.

In later years Ray suffered from Alzheimer's disease.

Rest in peace.

I was lucky enough to see Ray and Alan Ball at Goodison, when I was a young boy.

He was one of the 'unsung heroes' and deserves all the plaudits, a legend of the 1966 England side.
