Sir Bobby Charlton

Sad news today that Sir Bobby is yet another footballer diagnosed with dementia. He’s decided to go public about it if it can help others, and I sincerely hope that it progresses as slowly as possible for him.

Today’s footballers do get paid vast sums of money compared with the likes of what Sir Bobby’s generation did, and thankfully, they tend to be better looked after in terms of what high level sport does to the body over time.

However, like all top class sports, be it football, tennis, cycling etc...... it carries risks, it is often only a short time performing and earning at the very top level, and each time out on the pitch, or on a bike, or in the gym could be the one that ends a career.

Best wishes to Sir Bobby and his family, dementia is quite simply, dreadful.😢
