Pointless is very educational, I knew very little about the Periodic table before I started to watch the programme!!! I think it a fascinating insight into the state of general knowledge. Younger people do very well with music but generally don't do so well with politics. Everyone (except me) seems to do well with sport and films!

I am a bit puzzled by this post too as I have not mentioned Robert Peston or Only Fools and Horses. I have been asking for recommendations for good drama series.
I am perfectly happy to pay the TV licence.

Ok. But in my OP I did write about drama series.
You also wrote about a quiz programme and I for one had no idea that you were looking for personal recommendations whether for drama or not.
I thought it to be a general moan about nowt on TV.
