Bakers - Yes, thanks for asking about Dad - he's doing well and annoying the hell out of all the carers in his home, some of whom are former students of mine. He's currently trying to teach one of the Portuguese lady carers some English idioms - not sure whether "you're driving me to drink" is going to be much use to her in the future though! laughing

Finally got off my bum and did some work laughinglaughing house now dusted, polished and hoovered smile bathroom and kitchen cleaned and tidied up, washing machine just finished first load. OH back from his doings. Just had a light lunch as not that hungry.

Now need to go into Perth to get some food shopping and to pick up the Toyota, they called late yesterday to say they had given it a good going over, taken it out on several test hills but can't find anything wrong with it undecided oh well I will bring it home and take it out on our hill in the village and see if it likes going up that in reverse. Its a bit worrying as we know it does it (judders) but like all things not when the experts are around.

While sorting out this morning I came across a box of Mum's paperwork that we had stuffed in a cupboard before going away, think we will wait until Thursday to sort it out as its supposed to be a horrible day weather wise.

I've got a few sewing jobs to do so while OH sorts the paperwork I can sit and sew.

TDA, I'm still waiting for a call back from my LPG supplier, I raised a complaint the other day after getting nowhere with the person on the phone. It's states they will contact me in 3 working days, they have 1 day left. I've already been on their Facebook page as I know they are not happy to have negative comments. If nothing happens in the time stated I will be back on. Hope you get a satisfactory result.

TammyG,  are you Sure it's a Toyota  ??

The great "judderers in reverse" were the then infamous Fiat Ducatos  wink.

Went up to see Elderly Sister this morning, after I'd joined a Q at the surgery where three of us stood in line waving our, newly filled, sample bottles, like three pees in a pod embarassed

Things medical apart, Sis was busy knitting, knitting, knitting. Apparently her newly welped grand daughter had requested some nice knitted baby hats in Red and Amber And Green.  After a few technical questions it transpired that the guilty maternity unit has a habit of popping a green hat on fit & well babes, when not so well ones get the amber. Poorly little ones are given red ones, so anybody entering their unit can see at a glance which little ones are well, improving or rather poorly.

Nobody in this part of the world has come across this seemingly sensible idea before, so Sis has been given about 4 balls/bundles of the three colours and told " go thee and do your duty "  Despite her being in the middle of knitting away  at Christmas sweaters for half the family already  !!

Harwell, it'll stop her catching buses and wandering round Crewe Market when she's not being supervised  wink

ABM what a great idea regarding hats. Simplest ideas are the best! Well done to your sister. I have a friend's daughter who's just commenced her 2nd year of midwife training, I'll mention it to her - it might earn her some brownie points 😃

Especially if she takes up knitting in her spare time !!

Just for information :- Gt Niece lives in  Cambourne, Cambridgeshire so there may well be some contact 'tween East Anglian Health Trusts  undecided

{ Always assuming Essex accepts being labelled  as  East Anglian of course sealed }

ABM our son works in Cambourne. We're part of mid Essex- plenty of trying to 'merge' departments and hospitals going on, there was talk of the county town losing its A&E 🤐😤.

Midwife in training part of our trust but different hospital, the one that specialises in hearts 😉

My condolences too freddy, it's no age.  It's a terrible thing to happen for those left behind, and especially so at this time of year as well.

Have heard of this at one or two of the maternity units in this area .Why it hasn't been taken up nation wide is beyond me . Most if not all hospitals have friends of volunteers .😀.

Once again, thanks to those that have expressed sympathy, very much appreciated.

Me and the wife were over at Rob’s (wife’s BIL) today. As you can imagine, he’s still in bits. He expressed concern that now that his wife is gone, the family might ‘drift’ away from him. That won’t happen.
