Posted on 13/10/2021 11:49 by TakethedogalongYou did indeedπ The Museum is very good, lots of interesting vehicles and automobilia along with other exhibits. Was the cartoon gallery still there? Think it was one of last rooms as you left the house. Giles Royalty cartoons a lot of them.

The cartoons are still there but no cars on display so I think they must have put them away for the season. They close on Friday for the winter for entry to house and gardens.
The new car parking arrangements are by PNR and it's free if buying an entry ticket to house but, and a big but, HHA members still have to pay regardless. We obtained entry by being members so saved quite a few pounds and I didn't notice that we had to pay for parking. However the very nice receptionist kindly let us off.π

Millie,
You might find this cottage taken off the rental sector. A woman knocked on the door this morning asking if we were the owners or holidaymakers. She said she was hoping for owners as it had just come on the market and tried for a cheeky looksee.
Unfortunately I've been told to never let strange women into the house no matter how beautiful they look.π
So it looks like it may well be sold. Maybe as a rental income project but don't be surprised to see it removed come next year.

WN Thanks that's interesting as I checked out the website and it appears that you can't book it for next year. It's a shame but I am sure there will be something else. Yes that's very good advice to not to let strange ladies into the house - however beautiful they may be ππ.

Guessing you aren’t far from Bodmin Moor Nellie. Some very interesting churches on the moor, Altarnun and Warleggan we enjoyed. Many years ago, Prince Charles owned a shop in Liskeard, called Ough’s. Lovely old fashioned deli, sadly I think it closed down, but the shop premises are still there.
We're a little away from the main part of the moor, just off the road down to Saltash. Did visit an interesting church today, though, the Norman parish church and Priory at St Germans. Lovely set of Wm Morris stained glass windows designed by Burns-Jones. It is adjacent to Port Eliot House and Gardens which was one of the HHA properties but isn't any longer, more a wedding venue these days.

The day started off quite misty but it soon burnt off and it turned into a fine sunny one, good enough to get the washing dried outside while we're out.
Another NT property for us today, Antony House. Because of Covid restrictions we were only able to view the ground floor rooms.
Spotted what appeared to be a neat 5 or so van site yesterday up by Minions, Cheesewring Farm, which also has 4 holiday cottages for rent at what appears reasonable price, which might interest those that want to visit this corner of Cornwall. https://www.cheesewringfarm.co.uk/

Thank you for the courtesy of a reply Goldie !! Delighted that you don't have sleepless nights waiting for that brown envelope
Had my Standard Eye Test and the annual retinopathy test today so no driving permitted and Lo and Behold, t'was wet underfoot but the stroll into Crewe town and back was under blue skies with no precipitation . Might have been my happy smiling face simulating the sun, 'cos the general results were ok ~~ No change in eyes so no new specs needed { The Retinopathy checks will take a while to arrive ~~ Much closer examination of the photographs of the retinas under a powerful microscope I believe } The only problem or hitch was that SS would not accept the very old specs I had taken in for recycling -- Covid 19 still rears its ugly head
Had a discussion with G/nephew's Bride to Be yesterday evening and the wedding will take place at the same place & the same time as planned in 2019 & 2020 so I'm still welcome to attend just the Ceremony with Hugs and Cuddles all round, then depart for my home. { Brian does not Do large assemblies any more }
