Prada Cup Final

Having reigned supreme in the previous round robin series, it seems that Ben Ainslie has lost his magic touch a bit in the final best of 13 series against Luna Rossa. Four straight races down doesn't look good for being able to challenge the Kiwis for the Americas Cup. When he was drafted in as helmsman on the Kiwis boat in the previous Americas Cup series in San Francisco, he started six races down and had to win all the next seven to take victory. It's not over yet but I'm not sure my nerves can cope with the stress that a similar scenario might create. Next couple of races available on YouTube on Wednesday.

After such a resounding success in the round robins, Team Ineos have managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Luna Rossa always looked very strong. Another four years to lick our wounds and come up with a faster boat.

I got very confused by the list of 'rounds' for them to compete in, but , despite being a 'Land based ' person I was hoping for a few good reports from you CY to help educate me.

Trying to work out which YouTube video to watch was a bit confusing. I thought the superimposed graphics would have helped you see what was going on during an actual race. Unless you are a sailor, yacht racing can be very confusing for a spectator and even when you are in a race, you can't always be sure you are in the lead unless you are massively ahead.

Yes. It's the Americas Cup challenge now. Luna Rossa versus Emirates Team New Zealand, the holders. 13 races with the first boat to get to seven wins. It's all a far cry from the original race round the Isle of Wight won by the schooner "America", hence the name of the contest. Because of the loose way the rules were set, no one expected anyone to cut inside of No Mans Land fort, deep draught boats being the norm. America was a centreboard yacht and, drawing less was able to cut the corner. So you could say that it was won initially by cheating although no actual rule was broken.
