Yep, and it was lovely. Able to walk all the way around it, about 5 miles. There are good walks into the Moos.There's a cafe at the entrance for filling up on Bratwurst. There are a couple of sites in the town itself.

I remember seeing Corncrake and Black Woodpecker there.

If you want more specific info then let me know.

Thanks WN was thinking of staying at Camping Halbinsel Burg.  The area and town seem to be right up my street.

We didn't stay locally but took a look at the campsite when calling in. It seemed fine if a little on the cosy side and we said that we would probably use it if we wanted to stay in the area again.

Have you got maps etc. and where to watch birds info for that area?

If you don't mind translating from German then I can recommend;

Vögel beobachten in Süddeutschland by Wagner Moning (IBSN 978-3-440-12538-0).

Directions are usually spot on.

Oneputt, just came across a list I made of bird name translations from German into English to help me with that book. If you want I can send them to you as email attachments. Let me know at wherenext260@yahoo.com if you want them.
