Moor hen.....and guardian

Amongst the other wild life (mainly birds) that we are lucky to have in our garden, there are a pair of moorhens.

They have set up a nest in a clump of long grass and over a period of time she laid 9 eggs. I understand that the male and female take turns at sitting on the nest, but in this case, they have an extra guardian.

Our guinea fowl (actually, one that moved in a few years ago and decided to stay - that's him in my avatar) has decided to set himslef up as their guardian. He spends hours sat on guard near to their nest.

What a good bird! Smile
