We've put a new nest box up today. It has a camera mounted in the lid that connects via cable to the television in the conservatory. Just a matter of waiting to see if any birds decide it's good enough to nest in. 🐣

To increase chances of take up make sure the location is as desirable as possible. Make sure it's not south facing and not in direct sun. Planting bushes as close as possible to it provides parent birds with perches from which they check box and survey out for possible dangers prior to entering on each visit and fledglings to make that first leap of faith to relative safety. Just make sure though that these do not provide too easy assess to the box for cats or other climbing predators. Like us, location is very important when it comes to choosing and setting up home.
