Can no longer afford

Sadly, I have had to cancel all of my bookings with the Club because of both the cost of pitches now on Club Sites and the price of diesel. How many more of you are having real difficulty in getting away as often as you used to?

Yes, we like, or liked, Club sites too, always used to use them, but prices are now well beyond what we find to offer good value.

Who are they asking about what people want on a site?    Certainly we have never been asked.  We now find better value on smaller private sites, and, of course, CLs.  Using CLs is the only reason we remain members.

Would be interesting to see what research has been done, and whether those who have been asked really represent members as a whole.

For us, the site is only a base, we do not spend a lot of time on site, so fancy facilities are not required, and certainly not these premium pitches!

The Club is going back to it’s roots. Touring for those with money.

What is the point of these Premium Pitches?

Why do we need a place to put a disposable BBQ?  Some shops are banning their sale anyway.

Why do we need a picnic table and benches?  Does anyone go away in  caravan or MH without their own table and chairs?

Hedges between pitches......nice to have but not essential.

An ordinary serviced pitch would be the most we would ever use, though not at the prices the Club is charging these days!

I really cannot see us ever using a full facility Club site again.

If you can't see the point then there is no point and they won't appeal and therefore you won't use them.

For me I can see the point and simply they enhance my time away. Or I can't see the point of using anything else but it's everyone's choice and I wouldn't deem to say otherwise.

From what I've seen actually on sites they are very Popular

It was disconcerting to see a post by warden JK that the handbook is no longer to be published. If this is the case it could have a significant impact on CLs and members ability to book them. Since a significant proportion of posters have indicated that the CL network is the only thing keeping them members, could this latest 'alleged' development mean an exodus is likely?

If so, CAMC is going to change substantially from its original purpose. The idea of a basic provision, either by club sites or CLs, of pitches for members  is being ditched in favour of up-market and more expensive/profitable products.

Am I wrong in thinking that JK said the next edition would be the last to be distributed as a matter of course and that people could request one after that? If that is the case, no doubt the Club will be monitoring how many requests they get for paper copies and then work out from there whether it is worthwhile continuing with the printed version?

Why don't they just ask the membership?  Emails are cheap. They could also mention the new arrival times whilst they're at it.

Hmm, I think that would involve communicating with members. 🙁

I suppose because that is not the way the Club operates, or at least thus far it hasn't operated that way! As with lots of things the Club does, they tend to decide what they want to do and then either say why they are doing it or that feedback from members has lead them to that decision. We have to assume that what has been said about the Site Directory is the way the Club are thinking of going, without official confirmation. I have no strong feelings either way as I tend not to use the site directory so if it stopped it would have little impact on me as I can get all the information I need online. Are the majority of members like me? I am not saying that from a selfish point of view I am just saying what impact it would have on me. Others will clearly have a different view. To me it's clear that many people who use Social Media, a far greater number than use Club Together, probably wouldn't use the book either based on questions asked and the dependence on use of the App. I assume the Club have some inkling on how popular the book is? I would suggest that someone who uses exclusively main Club sites has little need for the Site Directory?  The site directory must be expensive to produce and printing 350,000 copies is a bit of a waste. The real issue is how long it would be available for members to request. That is easy enough to establish and if demand reminds high then I assume the Club will continue to produce it in sufficient numbers to satisfy demand?
