Eco-friendly tips for touring

Ours are so simple no doubt many use them. If it’s cold in the van, put a lightweight layer over your t shirt rather than turning up the heating! A simple throw over your legs is another cheap option. We hate heating on overnight, find it too drying, but we do carry a small oil filled thermostatic radiator in MH, which keeps the chill at bay on very cold nights. Cold feet cure is a simple hot water bottle. 😁

Offer members the option of EHU or no EHU how ECO friendly is that, but of course too much of a hassle for the club to actually do like HS pitches were.

The biggest eco friendly action that could be taken would be to stop touring, and sell the gas guzzling vehicle but somehow I don't think that's quite what you're looking for Ro.

I agree with MichaelT, he beat me to it. Cant be anymore ECO friendly than having your own solar panel/s and making your own electric, rather than plugging in the orange lead 

What is the Club doing to be more eco friendly?

I would not normally comment  but I have been banging on about this for years! At the risk of boring the pants off some, I have contacted the club on many occasions and asked for a full and in depth look at the new technologies and how they can be used to amazing effect for caravanner and Motorhomer alike. I have been consistently ignored. They promised a full colour article but preferred to do a half page article by themselves which really covered no new ground on this up and coming awareness.  Off grid, for the first time in many a year, actually, for the first time ever, is now able to be carried out at a comfort level compatible with the great EHU. The other thing about Off Grid is that you have to think about water and water will become a major issue in future years. Rather than go to the toilet block and have gallons of hot water at your disposal, my wife or I are able to have a perfectly good shower with approximately 10 litres of water or even less.  That is eco friendly. Free power from the Solar Panels into a lithium battery which powers all the appliances you need. I hope the club really starts to encourage the members to start thinking about being self sufficient in power. That will take a monumental effort and will involve the manufacturers as well. When EVs are parked outside every pitch - what then?

Use public transport where ever possible.  Club could help by giving more information about this on the site info on the web site.  Bus stop within a mile tells you nothing - is it near or far?  is there a footpath?  Arre the buses more tna once a week (& yes, I know this can change).
