Our car insurance is due for renewal next month  ,

I have been on Martin Lewis website and he has as the cheapest on his site the above company has anybody had dealings with By Miles

It seems to be for low mileage  users (as us about 5000ann)the basic, for us, premium is £146 then 2.8p per mile until full premium is reached £286 the premium is less if less miles, and increases by 2.8p per mile if over the 5000miles, all done by a tracker plugged into car

That’s great if you are happy letting an insurance track your every move & telemetrics, I’m not a fan at all🤷🏻‍♂️☹️

It may be the future for all vehicles,? I wonder if it is similar to what is fitted to many company vehicles and delivery vehicles,

Just wondered if anyone had had experience of them, could save quite a bit of money and it is over £100 cheaper than any other quotes on comparison websites

To old now to worry about who,s ,residence I am parked nearcool

I agree, as I’ve read the fuel duty & VED is being considered as an amalgamation charge on a per mile basis. If it’s law I’ll live with it but if it’s choice I’ll swerve it👍🏻

Sounds an interesting idea. Would suit those of us that don't do many miles. Perhaps the Club should investigate this option?

It's an idea that has been in operation for quite some time now in a slightly different formula.

Some of the bigger insurers such as Aviva have had these boxes in the boots of young drivers, who have agreed to the insurers conditions, namely low mileage and even what times of the day they can drive ( mostly to avoid evening driving with mates in the car etc) in return for a much lower premium than would normally be charged for someone of their age. I think there were punitive terms for exceeding their conditions.

I've been out of the sector for quite some time now so don't know if the schemes were successful or not.

I was with Bymiles car insurance for last four years and it was great in lockdown. I own a 67 plate Ford Galaxy doing about 5000 miles a year. Was paying £156 down payment was 3p per mile and the maximum your pay is £4.50 per day if you do a long journey with caravan, it was great. Until February 2023 renewal when SHOCK it was £371 down payment and 7.5 per mile. When I phoned them up they said they had changed insurers and there was no negotiation on the price quoted. I soon returned my tracker. I know there is inflation but this is taking it a bit far.
