Sometimes when looking at a topic I see there are a number of new posts added to a topic I'm interested in. It is a bit of a faff to find the first of the new posts. I'm wondering if it would be possible to make this easier for everyone by adding a function where you can access your first unread post in a topic. I know it can be done as it is used on another forum I use.

Sorry, GS1, but this is CT and the software lacks many things.

I’m guessing you're fairly new to the forum and weren't around when the 'new and improved' version was launched 4 years ago. We were asked for suggestions and your point was one that was mentioned along with page numbers top and bottom, a functioning spell checker, a PM facility, login taking us back to where we were instead of the start of the thread etc etc. I'm sure you get the idea.

there are lots of things that 'other forums' can do .... this one is still coal fired and no prospect of anyone with any IT skills doing anything about it. Not being so bl**dy slow would be a start!

If you look at your profile you can see the threads where you have added a contribution and maybe track things from there.

Yes Tinwheeler, I'm fairly new to the site, joined a year ago so wasn't aware of this being a new and improved version.

Brue, it isn't necessarily keeping track of threads where I've added a contribution, more of tracking posts which have a topic I'm interested in.

If there are, for example, 150 posts in total and 30 new ones it would be nice to go to the start of the new ones to continue reading the thread.

In that event I suggest you click "folliw" on whichever thread you are interested in and this will send an e mail alert when a new post has been added.

I tried that once. It was on a "Hot" topic. Emails flooded in and overwhelmed the system. Never again, even on threads I start. I just check in regularly.surprisedlaughing

I have a couple of post that I marked to "Follow" and for a while I got a notification, but then even those disappeared. The forum is a shambles if one is trying to find the latest post one has read it there are many responses after the last time one looked.
