Hi All,

I bought my first caravan a few months ago and have taken it away 3 times but the car i am using is not the best to tow the caravan so was wondering if anyone know a website that i can find out the pulling weight of any cars that i might buy as im going to change my car this week. Thanks

You could try the club's own matching programme. Look under the Advice and Training section. There are other web sites too, have a look through the Towcar section in CT as this subject has been raised quite recently on there.

what weight is your caravan V? That is a good basic starting point, divide that weight by 0.85 to give a starting weight of your car. Your caravan max weight should be (as a guideline depending upon experience) 85% of your car's weight.

As NTH says try the matching service.

When you passed your driving test will restrict you too ... if before 97 or 98 (can never remember) you will have a max gross weight of 3.5 tonnes

wrong way round I think. before 97 you can gross something like 8.25 tonnes. after these dates it's 3.5 tonnes

I wonder if the OP realises that their question has been moved from the section it was originally posted in. Not the cleverest move by a moderator IMO. How are Versa supposed to view the replies? Perhaps the mod could put a note to the OP saying that it has been moved and to where.
