Long-term holiday insurance

It might depend on how old you are. The Club have seriously increased prices for those of 80 and over and also shortened the maximum stay. The Club used to offer an extended stay insurance which you could use in several bites. However I think there may have been changes to this policy which makes it less attractive. You could also have a look at what the other Club have to offer.

A couple on here have gone over to using them as they seemed to suit their requirements better since changes with CC offering.

I didn't realise that, I thought it was the same as Red Pennant.

We had the Nationwide FlexPlus account until recently,  they are stopping paying 5% balance interest from 1 November 😤. It carried a monthly fee which included amongst other things travel insurance.  Our daughter lives in NZ, another reason for having the account no overseas charges, not sure that still the case. We regularly upgraded for 3 month trips for very reasonable extra charge, that included both of us with previous existing conditions. I expect other bank accounts may offer similar. Might be worth looking at.

Also if you're going for extended stays check your house insurance for duration and conditions too. The other club do 180 day absence cover.

I wish you luck personally I don't find Internet great if you want something slightly off 'normal' they price for routine breaks 😉. You can't  beat chatting to a human 😂

Nick, for travel insurance for really long trips it will always have to be a single trip policy - but they can be for a whole year. Just use the usual comparison sites - Go Compare, Compare the Market and put your details in.

we have a worldwide annual multitrip policy and each trip is limited to 90 days. once past age 66 (at renewal) this reduces to 31 days per trip but this can be extended with a higher rate premium and the consent of the underwriters.

re the 'do i need to book a return ferry' question the other day, I've just checked this with our insurers and, as long as we are only away for 90 max, we can book the return at any time....although i may look harder at return 'offers' now i know where they are

if we had had a single trip policy, we would have needed to book the return.

It is about time the insurance companies change the age restriction as people will no longer be retiring until 66. Just stopped going to the USA because of this and sold our RV in the states. The C and CC's policy looks good for future travel with the age limit up at 80 and we were pleased to see this a few weeks ago when looking at policies.. One thing to consider though is that if out of the UK for more than 3 months you officialy loose your NHS regfistration. So for anyone needing prescriptions the max you get is 3 months before having to return.

Best policy we have found as long as taken at a max age of 65 and 364 days is Insure and Go. They are the UK  part of Mapfre which is one of the big world wide companies (Spanish). In fact if you look at most UK policies the call center is Mapfre, hence why they can sell cheape policies.We were using their annual unlimited  max 90 day trips.
