Perfect for cycle and walking trails of Sherwood pines

This is our second trip to this CL. We have a 8.25m long 3.2 m high 5 ton motorhome towing a smart car and have no issues with driving down the long lane or access into the CL. Donkey is now sectioned off from where you park and their dog does not free roam and uses his garden but the house.. Electric option was offered for another £5 per night but not needed due to time of year, Superb location for walking and cycling. Secure so can leave windows open when out in the forest. Both times we have stopped off on way to/fro Scotland and owners haven’t been concerned about arrival or departure time. Deerdale Lane is long single track but we didn’t encounter any overhanging or sticking out branches and there are passing bays. Several cars use the end of lane to park to bike as Sherwood pines charges are high so makes this site value for money.

Beautiful tranquil stay

Thank you so much for a delightful stay and very warm welcome...Lovely place to stay, literally on top of the forest...waking up to the sounds of the birds and only metres away from the cycle and walking routes.

Disappointed

Friendly enough welcome but quite tricky to turn in off the lane. The donkey and dogs on site left their characteristic deposits which encouraged the flies. The waste disposal point had a heavy cover so not ideal. As the standards of CLs have increased in recent years, this one has not kept pace. I think the price was a bit high considering there are no electrics. We went for a walk in the forest, but the off road cyclists were a real hazard.

Lovely site

Welcomed by Mr Kimberley on arrival. Plenty of space to choose a nice position to pitch. Very quiet and peaceful on the edge of the forest. So close to Sherwood Pines and the walking and cycling trails. We will definitely visit again.

Perfect for Sherwood Pines

We chose this CL due to its proximity to Centre Parcs Sherwood as we had a spa day booked there. It was a wonderfully peaceful location adjacent to the forest. Turn right from the entrance and you are within 100m of the Sherwood Pines forest bike tracks. There are not any facilities so you need to be self sufficient but the location is superb. The camping field is lovely with its 2 donkeys (we named Diedre and Desdemone), ducks, hens etc. We would definitely return some day...

Bike trails

Wonderful place, just off A614, but you wouldn't know it.  Site is a field shared with 2 donkeys (we re-named them Eddie and Murphy), ducks and chickens, and surrounded by woodland.  Amazing night sky. Only problem is zero mobile reception, but being 2 minutes from bike trails in Sherwood Pines more than made up for that with our teenagers!  We loved the quiet, and sharing our meal times with the very inquisitive donkeys.  We'll be back.

Fabulous

Really lovely site. Need to be quite self contained but easy access (half a minute walk) to Sherwood Forest Pines and the cycle routes and walks. Donkeys and chickens around the van, site is surrounded by the forest with deer looking over the fence. Absolutely lovely and lovely friendly helpful owners. Will visit again.
