Great site

Paul communicated well and assisted me with a water pump problem. also gave advice on walks and has a good knowledge of local history. The walk from site to the canal is only a few minutes and it's about 6-7 miles along the towpath to Oxford which is beautiful. No problem with electric hookup. Local co op is a few mins walk from site. would certainly return

A difficult one to quantify!

Stayed two nights at 216 Lane End. It has a strange entrance down a side road between residential properties which, after a couple of hundred yards turns into the CL. Pitches are set along one side of the track in and a grassed area with trees on the other. The pitches are pretty level but quite rough being laid with what looks like compacted hardcore. Each pitch has EHU and a dustbin and the pitches back on to an orchard and what appears to be the owners garden. The other two sides of the site have pleasant views across fields and on one evening we were treated to a couple of deer wandering past. There is a water point behind the pitches but access with a motorhome isn’t possible if the nearest pitches are occupied so make sure you have means of carrying water to your unit. Behind the water point there are rubbish bins and the chemical disposal point. Unfortunately, probably the worst CDP I’ve ever used; just a manhole cover which when lifted shows what has been deposited previously and smells. There is traffic noise but it does fade into the background. Trains also pass the site but again this wasn’t too much of a problem and it all quietens down at night. Although dogs are allowed they’re not to be exercised on site so it means walking off the site to do so. Fortunately, within a few minutes walk there’s a track leading into the fields bordering the site and also, in the other direction, to a pleasant canal-side towpath which leads to two dog friendly pubs, The Jolly Boatman and The Boat and Annie’s Tea Rooms. There is a Co-op mini-market across the road from the site and also a bus stop where the bus to Oxford stops. The site is currently being looked after by the son of the owner who was very friendly when we met him and the site is in a great spot for exploring the Cotswolds around Banbury, Chipping Norton and Oxford but it just feels a little neglected and run down which is a shame as it could be a gem.

Bigwig Toy Poodle Reports

The lead holder said she would not return due to when we got back on site at near midnight after last walk a car drove in to the end of the hard surface a man got out and then got back in. As the pleasant owner had told us on booking that he was away the lead holder did not feel very safe. This site is down a small lane near houses in a residential area. There is a sign saying saying 'no exercising of dogs on site'. So most walkies were along the local roads, the main one is busy. We did find the canal towpath which is good for an early morning walkies.

Nice peaceful little site in a very convenient location.

We stayed at 216 Lane End to visit Blenheim Palace and Oxford. Both are easily accessed by frequent buses from just outside the site. The site itself is very pleasant with pitches overlooking fields and a small orchard. Apart from the sound of a train every so often and the occassional jet engine from Oxford Airport it was very peaceful. Don't let these noise sources put you off they are not intrusive and unlike a main road are not continuous. The electric hookups were fine as were the water and waste disposal facilities. The owner was friendly when he came to collect the pitch fee and was happy to have a short chat. Overall we enjoyed our stay and will visit again if we are in the area.

Peaceful break

Mr winters and son Paul were extremely helpful. Reading the other reviews says all that needs saying. Deer visit in the field, watching her was very tranquil Near by trains were heard but not disturbing plus distance car sounds again not disturbing also. Well stocked cooperative store at the end of the lane plus bus stop. Woodstock nice place to visit including Blenheim palace. Canal walks, river walks, pubs not to far to walk. Loved being there will definitely return. Thank you Paul for all your help x

A LONG WEEKEND IN MAY 2021

I would agree with the many positive reviews below. The site is well kept with lovely surroundings, the facilities are as described, we were welcomed by Paul Winters. We did not consider that the train and aircraft noise was intrusive, but should you require a CL with complete silence (a rare find) then you may wish to look elsewhere. Having visited more than 50 CL's across England and Wales I have no hesitation in recommending this cost effective site to other members.

Jiffy the motorhome

What a great site. Very easy to find. Sign for the site just left after the care home. Follow the lane to the end and turn right straight onto the site. Ask for your pitch number when you book up, as you will have to go back down the lane to ask. Beautiful site with brilliant views over the fields. Three hardstanding and two grass. Three electric points with a bin. Take a gas kettle or pan as electric kettles are too powerful and blow the fuse. Everything else is ok, including heating and microwaves. Great recycling next to the water and waste. Fabulous variety of shops including three Coops, an Iceland and a Tesco Express. There is also a Sainsbury store and garage at the south roundabout. Bus stop at the end of the lane, S4 goes either to Banbury or Oxford hourly, or the 7&500 both go to Oxford more regularly. Bus drivers very helpful. Buses are the best option, as all the car parks in this area have height restrictions at the entrances. Canal just a short walk away. We went towards Thrupp the 1st night where there is a beautiful lock and Annie's Tea room. 2nd day we went the same way, but a lot further along, great scenery. 3rd day we headed along the canal towards Oxford turning round at Wolvercote. The canal walks were great, paths were ok for walking, cycling and dogs, but not wheelchairs. There are only seats and bins at the locks, so it may be a good idea to check a canal map in advance if you're not too good on your feet! We will buy an ordinance survey map next time we visit the site as there are loads of pathway signs leading off the canals.4th day we spent in Banbury, visiting a reservoir and Spiceball park; more canal walking and shopping in the market and local shops. Went to Oxford twice on the bus; stunning city, beautiful parks and walks along theThames. Loads of pathways over the fields on the moors from the site. Great fun watching the squirrels on the site! But unfortunately too late in the season to see any deer or foxes. Overall a brilliant site for a motorhome as everything you need is right on your doorstep, we will definitely return.

Will be back

Only stayed one night but will be back as we are looking to move to the area. Relaxed and friendly arrival and gave permission to over stay beyond mid day if we wanted. Might be awkward for long outfits and over 7 metre M/H due to sharp bend on private road. Water and disposal point OK and no problem with electric hook up. Noise from airport and trains but not intrusive for us, and no siren as complained by previous reviewer. Dog exercise on site and nearby good canal side walk with a coffee stop halfway.

Returned again !

Many times we have returned to this sight and each time we find something different to see and do . It is rural, with visiting deer, but convenient for sightseeing in oxford and surrounding areas . excellent for walks and cycling . There is a shop and buses at the end of the lane. The canal and PHs are a short walk away . For anyone interested in the history of the area there is plenty to learn . Mr Winters and his son are only to pleased to help and very informative . We shall return !!!
