Drains well

We also received a warm welcome from the owner, Roger Morely. We were the only occupants for the two nights we stayed on this small, quiet but well cared for CL. I cannot add a great deal further or disagree with what previous reviewers have stated but with the poor weather expected, I was a bit concerned about using grass pitching but I had noted the site was open all year, which is mostly a good indication of weather resilient ground conditions. This proved to be the case because it did rain nearly all day on the Saturday but the ground drained well and remained firm. I need not have been concerned because we had no problems leaving the site in our motorhome on the Sunday.

Excellent site

We were the only ones on this level, quiet site which I would heartily recommend The facilities were all easily available and the site well maintained with a friendly greeting from the owner and staff working on the maintenance A good site for access to Grimes Graves (when it's open) Flag Fen and Sutton Hoo I would definitely use it again

Brilliant CL. Easy Access and flat.

We stayed here for 2 nights. Mr Morley was very welcoming. Came and greeted us and came to say goodbye as we were leaving. Lovely flat site. Nice circular walk to the village which has a co-op, a Londis, 2 indian restaurants, a chinese and a chip shop. The pub is part of the indian takeaway, its not dog friendly inside but we sat outside which was covered which was fine. Easy access to the site - couldn't be easier actually for us newbies. Good access to Ely, Wicken Fen etc. We would definitely go back.

Just what a CL site does

I had spoken with Mr Morley on day of arrival and he was very welcoming, said there would be 4 other vans on site and I would have a vacant pitch, which there was.. nice spacious field pretty level and the grass is well kept. Water, Toilet and grey waste at the top between pitch 2-3 and rubbish and recycling by the main gate.. just what we want from a CL peace and tranquil, yiu can hear the road but way in the distance so not a problem, Thx Tony & Sarah Lyon

Nice site, well placed.

Visited Oct 2014. A well sheltered, level spacious site, with tidy cut and collected grass, and well set out facilities. Very friendly owner, this well established site is well placed to explore the area, Cambridge, Newmarket, and Bury St.Edmund's. Nearby are Anglesey Abbey and Ickworth as well as Wicken Fen. Good access to small roads for cycling, but even these are busy, so use the plentiful cycle paths for safety. The next door mobile home chalets are very quiet and smart, seen over a high fence, the only noise on this peaceful site being the traffic on nearby A142. There is a Co-op shop nearby, and a couple of pubs, and a great and popular garden centre cafe.

Basic but the price is right.

Signage from North sparse (we overshot the drive) but good from the South. Site clean and tidy, well lit at night. Drinking water and waste point at top of site, bins at bottom. Grass short, level and well drained despite plenty of recent rain. For 12 quid, nothing to grumble about. Spent 4 nights there and would gladly go again.

Very Good CL

This is a well kept site with good drainage. Basic facilities but all kept in very good order. Grass is well cared for and rubbish removed regularly. Mr Morley goes out of his way to make you feel welcome without being intrusive. Have just returned from 4 nights over the weekend and found plenty to occupy us in the surrounding area. Look forward to a return trip!

Nice site

We used this for a one-night stop on the way to Norfolk. Basic site but nicely kept, level and welcoming. Walked into Fordham for supplies from the local Co-op and found one of the footpaths in the area. Very quiet location, although when you pitch bear in mind that there is a bright street lamp in the right hand corner of the site. We were fine in our motor home, but if you are in a caravan with people sleeping in the awning it will be noticeable. Good drainage so we had no concerns about sinking in the grass, despite the recent rain.

Tranquil Retreat

We have just got back from a relaxing, peaceful weekend away staying at this lovely CL. The owner was very friendly and informative. The pitches are very spacious, and the grass is kept short. We took our bikes, so we were pleased there are cycle paths around the area. It is a "get away from it all site." We will defiantly be visiting again!

Quiet and relaxing site.

Lovely site in the village of Fordham.  Friendly welcome by site owner.  Thoroughly recommend food in the White Pheasant, easily within walking or cycling distance and then cycle round to Fordham Woods or visit Wickham Fen. Shop at end of street sells everything you need, food-wise (and drink). You can even hire a hat for the races or wedding at Newmarket Hat hire, part-way along road! Will return.
