Doggy Heaven!

Just had a perfect long weekend at Pentney with two large dogs who enjoyed the wonderful scenic walks accessed from the site even more than we did. Facilities first class and the sun trap site was the only thing warmer than the welcome. The entire abbey site is maintained to the highest of standards yet feels relaxed and informal. Any wildlife lover and bird watchers in particular will love this site and appreciate the lack of background noise which allows the birdsong to be heard.  In short, an excellent site which we intend to return to

wow!

This is a really lovely CL, clean, spacious pitches, 2 water points with emptying point and bins out of sight. Toilet block was very clean. We felt very privileged to lower our legs and put our feet up in such delightful surroundings. Lovely mowed paths down to the river and lots of nice walks directly from the caravan. All this is in the grounds of Pentney Abbey which the owners Deita & Howard have lovingly restored over the past 4 years. We had the pleasure of a tour of the Abbey by Howard which was a real treat as he is so passionate about the restoration and history. Lots of lovely places to visit near by we particularly enjoyed the Denver Locks where there is a lovely pub and tables outside by the river. The CL is full of birds and wildlife. Thanks to our hosts we had a super holiday with a relaxed atmosphere and peace and quiet except for the dawn chorus which was AMAZING. We will be back.

Wonderful place to visit

Just got back from 4 days stay. Howard and Dieta made us most welcome and we met some great people.  We particularly loved our guided tour of the Abbey and Howard's passion for the restoration. Dogs just loved the walks by the River Nar; For people who appreciate nature this is an ideal spot. It is a well laid out site with good facilities and spacious pitches.  We will be back.

What a Treat

We stayed here in mid July and enjoyed the site so much we asked for an extra night! What a wonderful warm welcome we received. The site itself is extremely peaceful and our dog thoroughly enjoyed all of the walks surrounding it! We would definitely return to this one.

A gem

Had a pleasant and peaceful stay , dogs enjoyed the mown field walks and would have ventured further but for the hot weather and the infirmities of age . This was a well sheltered and maintained site , a testament to the hard work and thoughtful effort that has been put into it by Howard and Dieta , the owners . They couldn't have been more welcoming and hospitable , which rubbed off on fellow caravanners resulting in a friendly atmosphere on site . If you like big sky country , this is for you....miles from the nearest big road and really quiet and peaceful....no road noise ! Footpaths abound and there is woodland close by ....the dogs really enjoyed it almost as much as I did . We will definitely be back next year to see the restored Abbey Gate and explore further into this beautiful part of Norfolk .

Peaceful & beautifulSite

I have just come away from this site & cant wait to go again- very peaceful & well maintained field & site. The Abbey in the grounds is being fully restored &renovated with no disruption to anyone whilst we were there. Dieta & Howard - the owners were very helpful in every way possible. Lots of walks & other recreation around the area. Highly recommend this lovely site to anyone who appreciates a secluded country area in Norfolk

An excellent site, which should appeal to everybody

We have recently returned from a superb break on the Abbey CL. The hosts Howard & Dita have done, and do, their very best to make you feel welcome, and ensure you don't miss anything. I guess most who stay here have a dog, or dogs, trust me, your dog will love the freedom of walks straight from the site, ours did, especially the river on what was the hottest week of the year. We will be returning soon.

Amazing Place!

Nice field to park up in, the essential Norfolk wind protection means there is no view from your caravan but walk around the other side of the hedge and its lovely. Lovely little surprises like a hammock in a quiet private spot with lovely views for your use. Howard and Dita were very friendly and helpful. Great welcome pack which really explained things and helped us plan our stay. As dog owners this site could not have been more perfect!!!! Miles of amazing walks though farmland, forestry, by rivers and all accessible on foot from the site. Really relaxed about the dog - she didnt have to be chained up or kept on a lead all the time although our dog is very well trained and not a nuisance to others which really made it lovely for us. Although please if your dog is not as well trained keep it under control not everyone wants other peoples dogs in their space. Also the s/c apartments are absolutely beautiful and we are hoping to try those next time. A fabulous place probably the best we have visited so far.

Superb Peaceful Site

We recently spent a very pleasant week on this site,we were made very welcome by Howard who showed us the best way to pitch our caravan to take advantage of the sunshine. We had good weather and a very enjoyable stay. Would have no hesitation in returning to Abbey CL if in the area again.
