Great find

I cannot understand some of the negative comments about this delightful CL, it really is spot on. The views are great, especially with the late sun on Dinas Bran etc. Half an hour along the canal brings you into town and 15 mins in the other direction and you're at the Horseshoe Falls. From there it's a pleasant stroll by lanes and footpaths to the Abbey Grange (if open - do check) or the Britannia Inn (closed Monday). We didn't get to meet the owners as they were away but they had friends on site efficiently deputising. I could see only one hard standing, which they were using, and just 4 EHUs, but there were just 3 outfits at any one time.

A gem of a site.

A warm welcome from the owner started our 5 night stay off well. Very easy to get set up and plugged in. Easy access to water fill tap, recycling and waste disposal. The area itself is stunning. Scenery is breathtaking and we spent much time in Llangollen and surrounding areas. Local people are really welcoming and the bars and restaurants are all reasonably priced and of good quality. This site is a half an hour walk from town which we did every day along the canal footpath. Overall a really enjoyable stay and would recommend to other members.

WILL NOT RETURN

Worst welcome to a site we have ever experienced. On arrival owner insisted on filling my water tank, using their garden hose (not food grade hose) tried to offer to fill myself to avoid both getting wet as it was raining, but was not allowed and was told water was metered and they did not like wastage. I was then concerned when the owner dragged her hose to the chemical toilet header tank ( a gravity fed set up but the rinsing hose is too short) and wedged in the top to refill, not really recommended when using for drinking water. The paddock area looked nice but was told to pitch adjacent to garden refuse dump/wild area on one side (infested with hundreds of tiny black flies) and what looked like a greenhouse used as a tip for rubbish. All pitches appeared to be at the side of the paddock nearest to the house and I saw no evidence of hard standing. This is a shame as the camping experience could be improved if some changes were made. This may have been a nursery at one time but now looks unused. My visit was disappointing as the area itself has lot to offer, however I will not be returning to this site.

Great location

A lovely site in a great location. 30 minute walk to Llangollen along the canal with the option of going by steam train or horse drawn boats! An easy walk to the Horseshoe falls and the abbey ruins and a good starting point for longer walks. The owner was very welcoming and was quite chilled about us staying longer than the usual departure time on site on the last day so we could get in a longer walk. Some road noise and good free WiFi. We will be back!

weekend we wont forget

nice site shame about the owners, was charged for wi/fi which we did not use was fined £4 for arriving early (8.48)which brought the price up to £16 a night over priced for facilities available not a nice experience and a weekend spoilt, owners could do with a course on how to treat paying customers, in 35 years of camping and caravaning this was undoubtedly the worst welcome I have ever had.

6 Night Stay

From booking to arriving we found the hosts Michael & Joan very friendly & helpful. 10amp electrics was reliable & adequate. Surrounding scenery is beautiful, some round noise but not enough to spoil our stay. Site withing a 40 minute walk into Llangollen so it was nice not to have to use the car. The site is a credit to its owners, thanks for a lovely stay & we will be back.

A great place to be

Just spent 4 days at this CL. The owner rang us to warn of roadworks near to the site this was really helpful. The cl very quiet and really handy for the many attractions in the area. The wifi works better than many main sites. Well worth a visit.

Sheer delight!

We stayed here as my husband had a lunch with colleagues at the Chain Bridge Hotel nearby. A delightful site, within easy walking distance of local attractions (steam railway, canal, Horseshoe Falls, even the town centre). Michael and Joan could not have been kinder or more welcoming, to the extent of taking us to Church with them on the Sunday morning - it was an open-air service for Pentecost, and they even lent us their camping-chairs to sit in during the service. We would happily go back.

Great location and owners

We have just returned after a brilliant week on this site. The owners Michael and Joan are very friendly, and provided us with lots of info about the area. We looked out over wonderful scenery and enjoyed watching the lambs play. The canal and river are just across the road with easy access to the tow path into town. There is a motor museum just down the towpath which we plan to visit when we visit again. The steam train also runs daily in the summer, and can be caught at Berwyn station (at the nearby Chainbridge hotel) or in Llangollen. Loads of hill walks plus castles to visit, and of course aquaduct which was great to walk over. We also visited Chirk and walked through the tunnel which is 1/4 mile long... (take a torch) If you are adventurous take a trip to the water falls and after treat yourself to some wonderful cake in the tearoom. Can't praise the site and its location enough.

Beautiful site and warm welcome

We stayed in June and loved every minute.  An easy walk in to Llangollen.  Excellent location for road access, which was great as we did over 500 miles of scenic runs in a week.  Michael and Joan were very welcoming.  The setting is brilliant, set in a bowl of hills making for fantastic views.  Plenty of space to park up without disturbing anyone.  Peaceful, the roads just aren't that busy, and the facilities were good enough, after all, we are not staying in 5 star accommodation.  Loved it.
