A perfect CL to relax and enjoy nature

A very peaceful CL with lots of room to find a quiet spot. Set in a steep-sided valley, there's several walks from the site, plus plenty of quiet lanes for cycling. There are no shops or pubs nearby so provision-up before you arrive. The phone signal (O2) was poor, but that was part of the beauty; time to walk, relax, sit around and enjoy the red kites flying above and the steam train passing a couple of times a day. Unfortunately we didn't have the opportunity to meet the owners, but they were very helpful and welcoming when booking. We'll certainly return.

Lovely getaway!!

What a fab CL. First came here in summer 1990 and it was fab then. Lots to do in the area and now only about an hour for us from home. It will be our go to site. Will definitely return again and again. Good access, short grass and well laid out. Jackie and Cliff.

Exactly what a CL site should be….

What a lovely site.. firstly, please follow the directions and approach only from the A44 … we have an Avtex specific sat nav ( usually great ) & it was hopeless ! Without Janet & her sons help I think we would still be stranded … not pleasant . However the situation of the site and the warm welcome were more than worth it. 2 nights was just not long enough. The illuminated waterfalls ( 20 meters away) are beautiful, the walks and the reservoir stunning scenery. The site itself is lovely and well kept and as most caravans these days can do without EHU why would you not visit. In summary .. it’s beautiful. Thank you again Janet. Pete & Kim

Treasure of a location

Just back after 4 nights and it would have been longer if we did not have a fridge problem. Beautiful location with plenty of room for everyone to select their own area. New track up the incline to the slightly higher grass area which also has the bins/water and waste disposal - well laid out. We felt the site was what a CL should be, basic but good facilities, plenty of space to chose from (no need for hard standing) and sensible price. Site also has an imposing welcoming entrance. Even Red Kites flying over in the evening. The owners Janet and Mark are a lovely couple to talk to. The area has great access to days out from just down the road a short walk away to the Butterfly House. This is attached to the Cwm Rheidol Hydro Power Station visitor center.Well worth a visit to the free exibition and archive film when the reservoir was made. There is also a walk from there into the countryside. Go in and out of ther Butterfly house as many times you want to and there is a picnic area and cafe outside. Spectacular view from there across the water back to the campsite. The other areas we visited were the Ynyslas sand dunes which are part of the Dyfi National Nature Reserve and Bwlch Nat y Arian visitor centre with walks, offroad bike trails and Red Kite feeding daily - sadly the Red Kites declined to eat that day but plenty in the distant sky. No doubt waiting for the visitors to go! So much to do in the area or just relax as we did one day down by the waterfall in a lovely seating area with a picnic. We will be back!

Peaceful site in beautiful surroundings

The situation of this site, right next to the dam of the Rheidol reservoir, is sensational, but it manages to be peaceful too, and we had it to ourselves. The main disturbance is the chugging of the steam engine on the Vale of Rheidol railway climbing up the hillside, frustratingly hidden by woodland, and the shriek of its whistle in both directions. I'd rather that than a motorway! Aberystwyth is a town worth exploring, and we really enjoyed the trip on the railway up to Devil's Bridge. We would be happy to come back here.

Lovely simple site

Perfect for a quiet stop if you have onboard facilities. Easy to miss if not looking as you are on the bridge. Would return.

A peaceful little gem!

This site really is a little gem! We stayed for 5 nights and loved it for its basic but well set out facilities, the peaceful, beautiful, sheltered location and the warm welcome from Janet, the site owner. She was also very helpful with her knowledge of the area. Just across the road is a beautiful weir (part of the hydro power system) with a lovely seating area, and the water is lit up at night. Gorgeous spot for a cheese & wine picnic in the evening! You can walk and cycle from the site, but there is no close public transport or pub. It’s a shame that the steam train currently only picks up/sets down at Aberystwyth and Devils Bridge, not the stops in between, but I think this is due to COVID this year. Oh, and you can forage for miniature plums across the bridge too-the trees are laden with them!
