Argoed cl review.May 2018. It’s difficult to see how this fits as a CL, as it’s a small, tidy 20 odd Van campsite. But here goes. We approached from the South, and the main coast road was OK, with occasional narrow stretches but lots of lay-by’s left over from road straightening to pull into for a rest after Dolgellau. Coming from the North may be more narrow. Turning into the well signed farm track, you will find a narrow, steep concrete drive which seems to have no passing places. I found it quite intimidating. Looking back later, there are 2 small potential passing areas. There is space on the site for 20 or so vans, on 2 fields. One, gently sloping field with what must be the best campsite view in Wales. Another, very well sheltered field behind. There were 3 or 4 seasonal vans on site, plus a Chalet and 3 cottages. There is a LOT of space between vans, and the grass is cut but not collected. The traffic noise is there, but was not a problem for us, and we like it quiet. There is a good washroom facility, with showers at £1, washing machine £3 and dryer, and dish washing sink. Wi-Fi is very well set up now, a strong signal with transmitters all around the main pitching area, cost around £2 a day. The elsan point is in the ground by a rinse hose. Now onto the dog issue. There is a farm dog that roams at will, is very friendly and lovely, but yes he did leave us a package within 10 minutes of us setting up. I also found other soiling near the shower block and later near the elsan point. Dogs are a feature here, the owners have other dogs which do yap a lot, but are kept off site, and a lot of vans seem to like the dog friendly theme. No dog walk so they get exercised on site. It’s about 1 1/2miles to the nearby beach, we cycled with no problems. A footpath goes from the front of the entrance directly to the Estuary, very close. The beach is lovely, with a cafe in the carpark. There is a Spar shop at Harlech. There is a short section of off road cycle path by the site entrance, I would say the area generally is good for cycling but not for the fainthearted as some sections of main road are narrow with no good alternative. So overall this is a very nice site, with wonderful views and sunsets, and good facilities, although the farm drive is a little scary!.
