A bit basic & not worth £25 per night.

Having just returned from a visit here I thought I would leave a review straightaway. The field, unfortunately, was very wet, as we've just had one of the wettest winters on record. However the "hardstanding" I requested for my 6.3m motorhome turned out to be a few rows of paving slabs left in a so that I had to drive on them to ensure I didn't get stuck. This worked out fine, but there was nowhere to step outside onto without getting muddy. The mud is no-ones fault, but there should have been a proper hardstanding if that is how it was advertised. To fill up our water tank we had to drive out of the field to the tap beside the farm buildings and use their tap. This was fine, but we should have had a tap in the field near to where we were parked. Otherwise, lovely people with whom we had a chat about how things were going with the lambing they were in the middle of. If you are thinking of staying here, check carefully what the state of the field is before you book.

The weather didn't help

Firstly, I would like to point out that the weather recently had been awful. Rain after rain and named storms. We had recently updated our motorhome and were desperate to try it out. We had booked this site because it was local and offered hardstanding options. When we arrived we were offered the field with a row of slabs just inside the gate or to park alongside a barn on the track. We chose the field, so that we at least had a view. Because the water connection was in the field and the ground too soft, we were offered an alternative fill up point next to the barn. However, access to it was via farm equipment and a full water butt, which made access a bit of a squeeze. The next morning when I came to empty the black water tank, the facility was probably the second worse one I have ever come across. A rusty metal flap on a pipe, so making sure nothing got spilt was rather tricky. The rate was £25 for the night, my wife and I felt for the facilities and inconvenience, the offer of a reduced rate would have been a nice gesture, but no, full price it was. In better weather when the ground is firmer, it probably is a very nice location. However, the waste tank emptying facility will still be the same.

Nice but

Nice cl in a country setting but I think £25 a night is to expensive for a grass pitch in a field with just basic facilities.

Peace and Quiet

Stayed at this site for a long weekend over the bank holiday. Agree with al that has been said by others, especially about beauty etc. Confirm the need for extra hook-up cables and the toilet emptying point is in need of improvement.

Peaceful CL Stay

We have just returned from a lovely long weekend in West Sussex (August 2021) using this wonderful CL as our base. The CL is easy to access and a great base for touring the Chichester area. The site is fairly flat, well maintained and very spacious, it has views across the fields with woodland to one side.

Lovely CL site

We were lucky to get a spot on this site as many others we tried beforehand were fully booked. We loved this site for a number of reasons: 1. Picturesque with great views. 2. Very sheltered. This was important to us as we were expecting 49mph wind gusts and wanted to use our awning (2 kids and a dog in tow). 3. Far enough back from a main road so as not to be disturbed by traffic noise. 4. The owners were very friendly and helpful. 5. Dogs allowed. We had awful weather for most of our stay, but that did not stop us enjoying it. We will go again for sure.

First time visit

Just returned from 4 peaceful days here. As others reviews have said, it is located in a large slightly sloping grass field. You can pitch anywhere you like in any direction, limited only by being able to reach an electric hook up. A second 25 metre lead is useful, although the owner said that they have an extension if required. Friendly greeting on arrival and all facilities explained. It is rural and simple - fresh water tap, recycling bins, elsan point with its own tap in one corner. Easy access into Chichester and surrounding areas - lots to do in the area such as Uppark House, Petwork House (both NT), Chi itself, Goodwood, West Dean Gardens, Weald and Downland Museum, Bosham and many more. It's only 12 miles from home for us and I'm sure we'll return again. Be warned when approaching that the bridge that crosses the A27 just after the railway crossing has sunken approaches and needs to be taken very carefully at walking speed

What a great CL!

We stayed here for 5 nights in early July 2020. A CL just as we like them, electrics, a water tap, a chemical closet disposal point and a beautiful peaceful grassed field with views. It’s not a massive field and extra hookup cable could be required if you were the last to arrive. A hard standing pitch just inside the field is convenient for a motorhome but the best areas are the grassed ones. Saw deer and their off spring in the wood a short walk from site. Easy cycle rides in the area including a trip to Bosham which we thought was fab both at low and high tides. Went on the ferry over to Ichenor with our bikes as well. Highly recommend, very welcoming owners.

Peaceful with views

A lovely CL with a friendly welcome. Easy access, drive long enough to accommodate 7.5 metre caravan before going through gate. Grass field with electric hook ups on perimeter. Can pitch where you like, so if using EHU it is useful to have an extra cable. Gentle slope in places, easily remedied with small blocks. We had no problems with the recycling facilities. Open country views. Easy access for visiting Chichester & east entry to Portsmouth. We would highly recommend to anyone that likes welcoming owners, peace, beautiful location with no frills.
