Lovely rural/village Cl site.

Just spent three nights here between Christmas and New Year. And how we wish we were here for longer, we shall certainly be back. First of all to clarify about getting into the site. If you follow the Cl site directions, coming from the north, then no problem what so ever. If you come from the other direction (you don't have too, if you come from the south, just drive a further half mile on the A36 and you then join the directions given from the north) then not really a problem, yes you do have to travel out into the middle of the road a bit, but it is a very quite rural road, so no problem there. We liked the walks direct from the site, quite a choice of walks too. We liked the rural setting, being next door to a field with sheep in it, watching the owners chickens. In winter we always take bird feeders with us, and with in an hour of putting them up we were able to watch blue tits feeding in them. A very tidy and clean Cl, friendly helpful owners and very reasonable charges too. Rode is a lovely traditional Somerset village, with a couple of pubs, we visited one of them, short walk from the site, also a village shop. If you do need supermarkets and larger shops then Trowbridge is only a short drive away, We would describe this Cl as a charming delightful Cl, on which we tend to return too.

One of my favourites.

A really nice site, tucked neatly behind the farmhouse surrounded by trees and fields. A footpath alongside takes you on a short walk to the river and over an ancient packhorse bridge , along the river bank to an old mill (restaurant) just down the road. Bradford on Avon was our prime destination with the river, canal, Saxon church, huge tithe barn and a host of interesting places. But Bath is close by as well . The only slight drawback is that the waste disposal is by the farmhouse a little way up the drive. We will certainly return.

Lovely Setting

We stayed for 5 nights from 22nd July, after reading a previous review regarding the final approach to the site ,we spoke to the site owner who assured us it was ok especially as we tow an 8m twin axle caravan, the drive is narrow but if taken with care it is fine and the CL is worth the effort. The site is kept very well, bins kept tidy and well hidden, site grass well mown, and the free roaming chickens provide beautiful eggs! There is many footpaths from the site,we and our dog particularly enjoyed the riverside walk to the pub. There are many places to visit in the area, Bradford on Avon is a definitely worth a look. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to visit again.

Peaceful CL Site

We were booked in for 4 nights to test out our latest caravan, after a lapse of 9 years. We couldn't have wished for a nicer site, with plenty of walks, & nearby Pubs. The friendly owners (& Chickens) helped make this a lovely short break. Would recommend site to anyone as a base when visiting Somerset/Wiltshire.

Very nice CL

We were booked in for two nights but could only stay the one night. Everything on the CL was easy and handy to reach and can recommend this CL, however if you have a long caravan or twin axle you need to be careful when entering the site. Luckily I had the wife walking in front of the vehicle otherwise we may have fallen into a stream which you cannot see. We had to take a bend in the road wide to avoid scratching the offside of the caravan which is when we nearly ended up in the stream.

Wonderful CL>

This is a CL that for us was as near ideal as you can expect. Easy to find (although the turn off is literally just past the Rode Mill causeway don't overshoot), quiet apart from the birdsong, and nearby all sorts of touristy places to visit. A choice of hardstanding or well mown grass. TV reception iffy. We tuned in easily as did others only for the signal to mysteriously degrade the next day. We only wanted the weather forecast anyway. Beware cake loving chickens, good eggs though. We will certainly return.

Peace and Quiet

We stayed here for four days.. It is such a convenient site, in a lovely situation, for a motorhomer. Lots of lovely dog walks and several pubs within walking distance. The Mill at Rode, just across the bridge from the site, serves excellent food. The hard standing for our motorhome was excellent as were all the other facilities. We will be back.

Lovely stay

Stayed 6 nts - end October. Very pleasant with lots of footpaths in the area - walked some of the Macmillan Way - do use an OS map (we borrowed 'Sarah's Map'). The turbine at Tellisford interested us. The site is quiet with plenty of space. Lots of lovely apples to buy to eat and take away. Try the PO/Shop/Cafe in the high street. Used the buses - great. Access to the site is a bit narrow away from the main roads - but not difficult.

Lovely CL

We have stayed at Barrow Farm on numerous occasions and find it perfect. There is plenty of space for 5 caravans/motorhomes and it has everything you need.  There is always a warm welcome and facilities are great.

Frome Valley Hideaway

Stayed for just one night (unfortunately, would've loved to stay on) on my way back to Wales from the South Coast. Beautiful site in an orchard at the back of a farm on the edge of Rode village. The river Frome is in the next field and there are PYO fields adjoining the site. The local chickens are VERY friendly - demanding even - so much so that I ended up sharing my supper with them; and lo and behold, there they were the next morning waiting for breakfast! Three hardstandings and three grass pitches; water tap and bins adjacent. Basic but beautiful.
