My family and I had a great 5 night stay at Beckthwaite, the scenery was breathtaking. If this cl was on the edge of most towns then it perhaps would not of been anything special but it is all about the location. The pitches are quite small but they are level and did the job fine. The facilities were basic but clean enough and having 2 toilets is always handy. There is paid for showers but we did not need to use them. The gentleman that owns the cl is a friendly helpful man as was everyone else we met. Just one word of caution for the people who have not yet been to Coniston - the roads in and out are awfully narrow and extra caution is required when towing. See you again soon Beckthwaite - cant wait.
Great CL
We have often seen this CL in the past but this is the first time we have used it , I now realise why it is often fully booked , it is a great site ,in great location close to all of Conistons amenities .
Very nice owner , 2 toilets and 1 shower that are cleaned regularly ,we had the pitch next to the little river which we felt was the best one and the bridge across makes a good short cut into the centre of Coniston
Great spot!
A nice little site for easy access to Coniston Water and nearby town, pubs and pretty walks. Mr Dixon was a great guy, very accommodating at short notice. Need 50ps for the shower but still it was handy to have together with two onsite toilets. A pretty stream sits next to the site (the closest pitch to this in our opinion is the best of the pitches) with a dinky metal bridge allowing you to reach the other side. We would revisit if we were in the area.
Very convenient site
This was a most convenient site for the lake, the town and for walks without having to use the van on the narrow roads. We were lucky enough to have lovely weather and made the most of the attractions in the area. We use our van amenities so can't comment on the toilet/shower but the toilet emptying involved lifting the cassette so we just ensured it was not too full! Concerned at the lack of recycling which is no doubt a local council issue. Hope to be back soon.

Nice cl Site
We return again to this lovely site to enjoy the peace and quiet and the spectacular views and always a warm welcome from peter. And a bonus now as the mobile phone work better and now you get internet on them.
Nice CL Site
we have stayed here a few times now and find this site very nice and very handy for the lake and lots more. and of cause we will be back again.
Lovely little site
We stayed here for 5 nights in May this year, it was was our second trip to this lovely little CL site. It is situated beside a lovely little stream with lots of colourful foliage along the banks, add to that the wonderful views of the surrounding fells this site is idyllic. All this makes up for the very clean but slightly basic facilities the site offers You are on the doorstep of the lovely village of Coniston with all it's pubs Bistros and Tearooms and lots of wonderful walks direct from the site.
Be prepared to use your own shower facilities and you will not be disappointed.
Plain and simple
This is a spartan site in keeping with the CL ethos - a field, a couple of toilets, one of which has the shower in it. The pitches are hard standing and there are electric hook-ups. Although the site itself is not particularly attractive, the surroundings are stunning and the views of Yew Pike and Long Crag are really fine. It's only a 10-minute stroll to the lake and less than 5 minutes to the village. Thanks Mr Dixon!

Stay at CL March 15
Stayed here for a midweek break recently. Fantastic welcome from pleasant host. Excellent site close to all local amenities. Well maintained site, quiet and tranquil despite the central location. Would definitely come back here again for a longer break
Great place to stay
I stayed for only one night. Thuis place is easy to find and access. The owner was not around when I arrived, so I just pitched up and he found me in the morning before I left to sort out the £15 for the night's stay.
He's a frindly chap and was flexible about arrival and departure, so when it was time to pack up, I just left my camper there and spent the remainder of the day in town before returning at the end if the day to pick up the cmper and head for home. The facilities are basic but clean, and the site was very quiet an brialliant for accessing the pubs, shops and buses. Ideal if you want to do some of the local walks and not have to use your car.
