Ssshhhh ! Don’t tell anyone ;-)

Great little gem of a site ! Been here several times & love the walks along the canal and riverside. No EHU but doesn’t bother us and Elson & fresh water at the farmhouse on your way through to the field. Very quiet & very secure - perfect for us

Lovely peaceful site

Stayed at the site in June 2023. This site is a real gem. Very peaceful and relaxing overlooking the Severn estuary. Lovely walks along the canal to Sheerness and Slimbridge WWT. The owner was very friendly, lovely to see horses and sheep in the field. Would definitely revisit.

Such a Find right by the canal

Basic site in a rustic farm setting & a very short walk to the beautiful Sharpness canal. Horses were lose in field but were very friendly and no bother. Park up and find a spot that suits you to pitch. There is a tap and chemical disposal point near the house. The views of the Severn are lovely and the sunset was fab. Can’t wait to go back there.

An unexpected oasis of peace and tranquility

We ended up here kind of by accident because we cancelled one location as we thought our brand new motorhome had irrevocably broken down. The RAC got us back on the road after two call outs and we managed to get the last pitch here for a busy July weekend. What the site lacks in facilities, it more than makes up for in location. No road noise, just the odd beep from the swing bridge opening on the canal. Great sunsets too ! The lack of a sign to let you know you have arrived, leading to a 9 point precarious turn is the only thing the owners should address. Get over the bridge and the entrance is right on your right!

Could be perfect as others have said

We visited in the summer of 2019. Others have pointed out that this site has the potential to be perfect with its superb views of the River Severn and the surrounding Gloucestershire countryside. The walks are great along the Gloucester Canal, again as others have said. The emptying point however, was excellent when we were there and did not look very old. The old derelict looking caravans do not improve the site and more importantly the long grass is something I am very wary of in case of a grass fire in the summer time and avoid whenever possible. There was no provision on site for our rubbish so we found a bin in the nearby village. We would not visit again unless these bad points were remedied.

Could be perfect!

Wow what an amazing location! Perfect for cycling along the Canal in both directions. Ideal for a stop-over when visiting Slimbridge BUT we were put off by the lack of signs. On arrival there was nobody home. I phoned and left a message but did not receive a reply. We couldn't find the emptying point and the one tap we did find didn't have a drinking water sign with it so we were unsure if that was the one we were supposed to be using. We weren't sure where to leave our rubbish either so took it home with us. There were 3 vans already on the field - one looked like a store for horse food and the other two looked unoccupied. There were ponies and sheep on the field so the owners are very trusting that visitors shut the gate. I thought it was a requirement of the CMHC to have two taps, both labeled, one for drinking water and one for rinsing by the emptying point? A sign by the emptying point would be good too as well as decicated rubbish and recycling facilities.

Beautiful surroundings

We have just spent a week on this cl and I largely agree with the other reviews. The scenery is beautiful as are the sunsets. There are four ponies on the site, we were told about them when we booked. As you can expect there is also a lot of what horses leave behind but did not cause any problems. Nice cycle rides along canal to Slimbridge and Berkeley. The local pub is very welcoming. Open from 7pm to 10pm evenings and 12 till 2pm weekends. Well worth a visit, they do ploughmans lunches.  There are a few downsides. The chemical disposal point is close to the house and comprises of a manhole, the cover of which needs to be pried off with a spade. Disposal of rubbish is also difficult the owner is only allowed one black bag per week and asked us to put our rubbish in the waste bin by the canal. We ended up taking it to the recycling centre about 10 miles away. There is only one tap for all water uses. The site already has two caravans on it. One seems a permanant residence and the other abandoned. All in all a pleasant week with minor drawbacks.

So quiet and peaceful with Fab views.

Fab views of the Severn and surrounding farmland from the field which was empty apart from us.  Enjoyed being so close to the canal towpath with good walks and cycle tracks.  The nearby pub has seats outside overlooking the Severn, does have limited hours, due to the owners farming commitments it seems but is atmospheric and different.

Fantastic views

We shared this site with four friendly ponies. We were the only van there. The views of the Severn and of the canal were magnificent from the top of the field. The farm is right next to the canal tow path. We don't recommend the pub down the road - it was extremely basic, doesn't do food and has very restricted hours.
