Ok site that could easily be so much better

Lovely location with excellent pub and superb food, but it feels as though the CL is just an after thought. Nice field with park anywhere policy, We didn't need EHU but if you did there are 4 outlets on a single pole, which would mean 4 units really close together at the back of the owners garden ( More of that below). To get to the WC and Waste you have to walk down a narrow path next to the owners garden , in which they have a Mastiff or simialr bred large dog which barks and growls constantly at you. It's not nice trying to empty the cassette with a bloody big dog growling 3 ft from your backside !!! The locals are allowed to use the field as a dog walk area with the obvious consequences from some irresponsable owners. It wouldn't take much to make this an Excellent CL, but is just OK at the moment

Lovely setting that has so much potential

We arrived on Sunday midday the welcome from the owner was okay and I was advised the unit already on site would point out facilities. Unfortunately they were not there. There is facility for 4 x EHU but these are all on one outlet so positioning is limited if you want a level site and not to be too close that you disturb the owners dog in their private garden area. We did not have any issues with the owners dog walking around off lead during our stay as another review reported. The toilet would benefit from a clean. There is definitely road noise which is unfortunate in such a lovely setting by the river. The grass was fairly long but the camping area is so large this must be a difficult task. We dined in the pub for Sunday lunch but were disappointed in our meals so did not return. We enjoyed walks around the area and through the village.

Peaceful site at an excellent pub.

We stayed here last weekend and had a lovely time. We went into the pub to pay and collect our key and received a warm welcome but other than pointing us in the direction of the gate we were not told where anything was. We let ourselves in and luckily there was another resident who showed us where the one hook up pole (with 4 outlets) was and the tap. The field was mown and didn't need the levelling blocks previously mentioned. We ate in the pub during our stay and the food was delicious and as we only had to stagger back to our van we indulged in a few sherbets (!) The site is very peaceful, lots of wildlife and some excellent walks by the river. We also explored locally and found lots to do. We will definitely return.

Welcoming and Extremely Helpful Staff

We arrived late, after the pub had just closed and Tony, the landlord and site manager, was sitting down to eat his lunch. We apologised but he immediately checked us in and gave us the access key. After a very pleasant local walk, we enjoyed a delicious meal at the pub. We left the next morning, earlier than the given departure time of 12.00 noon, and when I went to return the key and reclaim my £20 deposit, Tony was out and the housekeeper was the only person on site. She had insufficient cash to repay me herself but promised to arrange a bank transfer via Tony. He did this very promptly. She was in the middle of cleaning, on a very hot day, but found time to make a phone call, take back the key, and direct me to Southwold. Very impressed!

Quiet and peaceful, great ales and lovely village.

We found pleanty of space on a fairly flat field with water and electric available. Easy access although you do have to leave a £20 deposit for the key to the open the gate to the field. Toilets and black water discharge at the rear of the pub. The Black Swan served some great ales and the food was good too. The river flows at the bottom of the field and the village was well worth a look around although the surrounding area was rather sparse. Not the high end activity site for sure but well worth a visit.

Disappointing

NO WIFI on site only in pub. Grass uncut. Ate in pub but still hungry.

Bit tired

This site is close to the road and has some traffic noise, pub is reasonable with fairly good food at average prices. Publican and large mastiff dog walked around the site, dog did his business but the landlord made no attempt to clear it up. Will not be returning here. Levelling blocks required in most places.

What a Gem

What a lovely CL. We were welcomed by the landlord and told where everything was . The CL is in a locked gated field (which your given a key for ) its beautiful, well kept and very tranquil. We ate in the pub and the food was superb, the wine was equally as lovely. Would highly recommend this CL to anyone. One thing though don't rely on the buses they appear to be either invisible or run when they feel like it!
