Beautiful location

We visited Blythe Waters for 4 nights in May. We wanted somewhere mid way between Devon and Yorkshire to meet with friends, and this fitted the bill perfectly. We were a bit hesitant after reading some of the reviews, as we both have dogs, but we really needn't have worried at all. We were asked to arrive before 4.30 - that was no problem. We were met by the warden who was very friendly, explaining the usual things - water, electric etc, and also where dogs were allowed to be walked between certain hours as this was primarily a fishing centre - all perfectly reasonable we thought. The site is beautiful, we watched herons, geese with goslings, swans (one that liked to be hand fed!). Heated toilets and showers were a bonus! Gail - the warden - was extremely helpful. She gave the four of us and both dogs a lift to the local pub where we spent a pleasant hour then walked back along the canal! She purchased charcoal for the BBQ on our behalf so we didn't have to carry it back with us, and she phoned for a taxi from a company she knew for us the following day. OK - she likes to call a spade a spade, but we're from Yorkshire, and we like that!! We will definately be returning!
