We stayed here for four days in 2017 when were at a fabric fair at the NEC. We enjoyed our stay and so booked again in December 2018 to stay for two nights in February while we visited the NEC again. When I phoned the manager remembered me from our previous stay. She took my booking and asked me to send a cheque for the full amount (£26). About a week before going I was looking on Google to check the route to the site i read some of the reviews left and was surprised how negative some of them were as we had had no problems. I noted that somebody had written about not being allowed in after 4pm. I live about 3 hours from the site and with commitments in the morning of our arrival day we wouldn't be able to get there until 4.30 -5.00. i phoned the lady I had spoken to previously to explain this and she simply told me that it wouldn't be open as the gate was keypad operated and she left at 4pm. I suggested that as I'd already sent the cheque to pay could she not give me the code for me to use on arrival. She refused, saying that she didn't know who she was talking to and that several months ago she had given the code out and then found 15 caravans with Irish travellers on the site. i reminded her that she knew that I'd been there before but she wouldn't budge. She suggested that I stay on Sunday and Monday nights instead of Saturday/Sunday but I explained that had to be back in West Wales by 9.30 on Tuesday morning so I couldn't do it. I told her that i would arrive on Sunday morning to get the gate code. I then booked to stay at a site near Worcester on Saturday night and had to depart from a direct journey to the NEC to get the gate code off the lady. She gave me the code but when i asked for a refund for the Saturday night she said that that wouldn't be possible because se'd cancelled not her. The stupidity of this is that even if I'd arrived before 4pm I could give the code to anyone in any case. I feel strongly that we should have been offered a refund as the 4pm deadline was not ,mentioned when I booked nor is it given out on their website. I will not be back.
