Bridge Farm House October 2023

We have stayed at this CL a number of times over past years as it is really convenient to visit family in the surrounding area. The stay made the most of the available hardstanding area provided as the weather was horrendous the whole week but that’s caravanning for you in the UK. The owners are really helpful and their adjacent driving range and restaurant is a must visit place. We will be back in 2024.

Late summer weekend

Spent a lovely weekend here at the beginning of September & had the site to ourselves. After some heavy morning rain, Lynn was concerned that the grass pitches would be too soft to use without damage. However, by the time we arrived the ground was firm and we had no further rain all weekend. The site is easy to access - no narrow country lanes to worry about. Although there is a lot of intermittent noise from road and air traffic during the day, overnight it is much quieter. Plenty of wild birds to watch & of course the sheep. The only negative points we found were the lack of recycling bins (we took our wine bottles home!) and the chemical waste facilities, which my husband said were some of the worst he'd seen. Let's say functional but basic and could be tricky for anyone with back trouble. We weren't impressed with Burgess Hill as a town, but having the Oak Barn in easy walking distance was a bonus - had a delicious (but not cheap) dinner and found the quality & service to be superb.

Amazing stay

We stayed on this CL for 6 nights last week, good sites in this area are limited. The owners were very nice, and always helpful, it is a well maintained secure CL site behind the owners property, very good access to a well laid out grass pitch site, hard pitches were available if grass were inaccessible, a very spacious site overall and plenty of room between pitches. The surroundings of the CL overlooked countryside with a few sheep and goats roaming in the adjacent fields. Good location to get to south coast and other venues. Good eating locations near by the adjacent 9 hole golf club was good for food and drinks. We will definitely be using this location in the future.

A little Gem

We arrived and was met by Lynne for our two night stay. Lynne showed us around the water and waste points (Grey waste in bushes), and gave us a guided tour of the site and various outbuildings , including an array of old tractors and some vintage cars. There is also a flock of 10 sheep in an adjacent field. What a lovely well kept site. The farm has a history of horses that have now all gone. The horse exercise area now acts as the well maintained winter pitch area for the site. The owners also run the next door golfing range and course plus the adjoining Oak Barn Bar & Restaurant which is a 5 mins walk from the site. Well worth a visit. The site looks out onto part woodlands and fields with a feeling of remoteness, with the nearest town just a 10 mins drive away. Thanks Lynne for a couple of chilaxing days. We will be back.

Absolutely Fantastic

We have just return from a lovely week staying here. We received a warm welcome from Lynn who was also very friendly and helpful through the week. We had bikes and she advised about the cycle paths in the area. We had a problem with our brand new awning and she didn't mind a parcel being delivered to site to fix it. Our car also broke down when we were about to leave for home and she had no problem with us waiting for the breakdown to come out and get us going. Please don't be put of by the one and only bad review as there is no problem with draining grey waste into the hedgerow certainly no worse than using washing up water and bath water to water your garden, I have to say this is not the first site we have been told to do this. Will definitely be returning. Thanks Lynn for a great week.

Not happy at all.

We pre booked this site in May. The price advertised and still is advertised, was £17 per night plus £1 per night for awning. Cash on arrival. When the owner showed up with her dog to meet us, she informed me that the price had gone up to £19 per night. I just paid and said nothing. But then she asks if we have an awning? I replied yes. She replied “No Groundsheets allowed? I replied but our groundsheets are breathable. She replied in an even more stern voice, no ground sheets allowed at all. Ok I said but what about all the sheep’s poo everywhere? She replied, I can’t do anything about that, this is a farm and we graze the sheep on this field when there are no vans booked in. Obviously this had happened a few days before as there were fresh wet poos everywhere. There was no way I was going to erect my brand new awning on top of sheep’s poo. Nor was I going to sit in said awning with poo under my table and chairs. I’m not sure if this is against DEFRA rules but I do know that humans can get ecoli from sheep’s poo. But that aside, who wants to walk poo into your caravan? The next major hygiene concern was that the only fresh water tap on site was 3 inches away from the animal trough which was green and yucky. If we hadn’t driven three hours to get there and didn’t have excursions booked we would have left and looked for another site. Apart from the bad hygiene, the owner has the people skills of a Neanderthal. There was building works going on in the adjacent field from 8am every morning with diggers etc. Also they were burning grass behind us one day and the caravan was full of smoke. We had to close all windows and roof vents in 23 degree heat. I would not recommend this site at all and I will be reporting it to CAMC.

Absolutely Excellent!

What a fantastic site! We were given a very warm welcome from Lynne. She was most helpful and thoughtful as we have disability problems. The site was so well maintained and the field resembled a lawn. It was tranquil and surrounded by attractive scenery. We will definitely be making a return visit and would highly recommend it. The pricing is comparable to other well kept and beautiful sites. Bridge Farm House is a credit to our caravan club!

Nice Site but pricey

We have just returned from an extra long BH break. The site has easy access driving through the property to the field at the back. We were met my Mrs Collins giving us the vital information, chemical waste point and hook up etc. I still don't understand why some owners put a surcharge on awnings making this site expensive at £18. There are no toilets, shower or grey water disposal. Grey water is dumped into the hedge row. The chemical waste is not ideally located as it is too far away. There is some road noise that will bother you if you want it to. The site is in a beautiful spot with neighbouring sheep and adjacent fields and certainly one of the better sites we have stayed on. The lawn is in very good condition and unusually the clippings appear to be collected. Great pride is taken in keeping the area clean and tidy. We ate in the Oak Barn which serves excellent food at a fair price. All in all the site is kept very tidy and clean and well worth a visit.

Overpriced

Perfectly good CL but, in my opinion, having stayed in loads, is that it is overpriced. This is a shame. Negative points: fairly noisy road nearby, WC empty point is a bit far away, site is not particularly level. Positive points: Nice welcome, close-by water tap, no children allowed (!).

A relaxing and peaceful stay

Our very first trip in our motorhome was to this site at Bridge Farm House. We had a Manoeuvring Course booked with the Caravan and Motorhome Club in Hassocks (which was superb) and Bridge Farm was a convenient 10-15 minute drive in rush hour. It was also our first chance to check out our van and we found this site to be a great choice. Mrs Collins was very friendly and greeted us upon arrival, guiding us out onto a nicely mowed, fairly level, grass field overlooking farmland, sheep and woodlands. We had the field all to ourselves, with electric hook-up and fresh water. A very peaceful and relaxing couple of days - what more could we want!
