Excellent CL Site

We have just spent the Easter weekend at this site and, despite some of the worst weather before our arrival - with several other CLs cancelling bookings - this site managed to stay open and did not disappoint. We arrived late and in the dark with driving rain, The owner came and made sure we had been able to site our caravan and we knew where the water, EHU was etc. The site and surroundings were exceptional. Very quiet, very beautiful and very rural and yet has excellent transport links to Stowmarket, Bury St Edmunds, the Coast and many more places. We chose to stay on the site and explore on foot. The farm has many public footpaths and the owners have also installed a lot of permitted routes - it was absolutely lovely !! Highlights included - listening to the Church Bells with a cuppa and a croissant, the Butchers in Debenham, the pop-up Bakery (don't go hungry !!!!) Top class little CL site

This site should so much better

The approach lane to the site was quite bad with a very uneven worn surface but nothing a few road plainings rolled in wouldn't solve. Going into the site was all good with plenty of space for all amongst the fruit trees and nicely cut grass. Other reviewers say it's laid back, I'd say I was let down by the lack of contact from the owners. In fact there was nothing, nada. One thing, They had wifi on site, nothing anywhere to tell you what the passwords were. No. did you find us ok or did you have a good trip, again nothing. With a bit more of an effort from the owners I'm certain it would be a great site to visit and would reflect that by more people visiting. A great shame !!

So laid back!

We have just spent 3 nights on this lovely site and wished we could have stayed longer. The site is very spacious and you can choose your pitch. We had the beautiful house and moat to one side of us and the church to the other. Sitting in the sun listening to the birds and watching the family of rabbits playing in the orchard was just the tonic we needed. The area is brilliant for walking with lots of public footpaths close by. The owners of the site are very relaxed and leave you alone but are happy to help if you have any questions. We will definitely be returning to this great site.

Lovely orchard

We enjoyed out time here. Very spacious site, you can often pick your pitch- we tucked ourselves away beside walnut, plum, Apple and pear trees. We were pleased to have a bit of space to kick a ball around in. Very pleasant and welcoming owner. Thank you.

Pretty and Peaceful

Only stayed one night at this CL, but really loved it. Beautiful grounds and so peaceful. Check in was very simple, our name was on the board telling us to choose any pitch and we then paid up at the farmhouse. Some walks straight from site, and the owners have kindly added permissive footpaths on their land to provide more options. Will definitely come back.

Beautiful Orchard Setting

We recently stayed here for 9 nights and had the place to ourselves apart from the first night at a time when many caravan sites were full. It was a lovely place to stay and we would certainly return if we visit the area again. The caravan pitches are well spread out in an orchard by an attractive Suffolk farm house. The coast is 30 - 40 minutes away and there are several National Trust properties within easy reach. We would highly recommend this site.

July stay

Peaceful stay on grassed flat area although do watch the low hanging branches on the apple trees, as we nearly caught our aerial! Difficult to spot the CL sign so would recommend google maps to talk us in!! We could choose our pitch as we had a choice of more secluded by the moat or the more open area . We chose this and had the area to ourselves for most of the week, only downside was no WIFI there apparently signal blocked by large walnut tree and toilets were closed due to COVID restrictions, but not a problem as we just used our own. The owner was really helpful answering all our questions about pubs and footpaths. We cycled to Mickfield and chanced upon a church/AirB&B to look around and attended an evening service. Closest pub is The Magpie we drove as closed at 7pm, but you can walk, turn left at the bottom of the drive onto the main road and go through the hole in the hedge on the other side of the road to walk there. Great to try Lithuanian food the goulash was lovely. You can cycle to The Highwayman by going through the caravan storage area and out through the fields then cross the A14. We did cycle this way via Crowfield airfield and Creeting St Mary to Needham Lakes and also managed to cycle to Otley Hall and Helmingham Hall gardens ( remember to mention Caravan club 2:1 discount here). Another pub to try was The Walnut Tree at Thwaite totally veggie pub my Hubby was in his element as he could choose from the whole menu for a change! The black currant sorbet and coconut ice cream were yummy! Lovely site but we did find the roads busy. Next time we need to take our ordinance survey map to find the footpaths.

Beautiful and peaceful stay

What a gem! Beautiful orchard like setting, with plenty of room. One pitch is next to the stream with ducks. Water, bins and chemical disposal easily accessible and there is a lovely long walk through the farm for dogs. We pitched up in the far corner with plenty of shade and space around us. The owner came over shortly after we arrived to explain where everything was and how to contact him if we needed anything. We normally stay on Club Sites and this was only our second CL experience but it has made us think we should choose them in the future! If we had any criticism at all it's that it would be useful to have a bigger signpost at the entrance as we went past and it took us ages to find somewhere to turn round with the caravan. But on reflection that was probably as much our naivety as anything!

Gorgeous site, like pitching in an orchard garden

Only booked one night here as part of a tour of East Anglia. The CMAC CL sign is not easy to spot, being a bit overgrown, but once on the track in to the site, how nice it is soon becomes apparent. Our name was on the welcome board and an invite to pitch where we wanted. Difficult choice, as they're all lovely pitches, under trees, but open enough for lots of sun to get through. Short grass, well maintained and more blackberries than anyone could pick! Excellent hot shower, good and easy to use facilities, with ful recycling. Didn't go very far from the site (such a nice place to sit and read in the sunshine), but would recommend the Hog and Hen farmshop (Just past Mill Green about a mile from Broughton Hall) for some excellent local produce. Friendly and helpful owner, well organised, and well worth the price, if we lived anywhere near by we would be back, often.
