Arnside at last

Yes, Arnside at last! I have wanted to visit this area for sometime now having heard so much about the area from friends who have spent a lot of time there over the years. We opted for Brow Foot Farm from the reviews and our 'insider' info of Arnside. We were very happy with the site it has all you need in a CL site. It was a little wet when we got there but dryied out rapidly without the grass cutting up. There are many walks if you are so inclined, that you can access straight from the site and the surrounding scenery is a delight. Unlike other reviewers we found the access presented no problems and we have a twin axle over 10 metre train length. The chickens are fine and entertaining. You are after all on a farm!! Arnside lived up too its recommendation and should you wish for more views and challenging walking you are only 40mins from The Lake District.

Lovely peaceful site

Have enjoyed many short breaks here with Richard the farmer, and family. The views are lovely, it is very peaceful and Richard has always been very helpful- bringing us eggs when the hens were laying but unfortunately in answer to a previous review the hens are older now and not laying as they used to! Access to the site is a little difficult but not impossible. There is very little on the roads around the area any way so you can take your time accessing or leaving.

Nice Views - But 2

Spent week here in June. Surrounding roads are what you would expect in the area, but access to the site from the directed route is very sharp and steep and grounded my van. Access road from farm to site is also in much need of repair. No eggs, no welcome and chickens running everywhere  - including our awning!

very peaceful

We read the previous reviews but still booked this site. Glad we did it was beautiful. The area is smply awash with nature and wild life. we loved having the access to the Leighton moss estate. we saw lots of birds as my husband is a keen birdwatcher so it suited us well. The turn into the farm is quite sharp, but taken slowly is no real problem. Just be aware of the guttering on the farm building as you enter the farm it get up a little close and personal to the van, take it steady and you will be fine. Sure we will be back!

Nice views BUT!!!!

The road from the A6 is single track in a lot of places and is not for the feint hearted. When you get to the T-Junction at the top then its a hill start, right-turn through Yealand Redmayne and Yealand Storrs, both are very narrow too, before a 180 degree turn at the entrance to the farm. The track through the farm gate to the site is very narrow and crumbling away in places. Personally I value my van to much. Check Google Streetview before making a decision on this one!!!

What a cracking CL

We travelled to Lancashire originally to stay 1 week and hopefully see the otters at Leighton Moss. As it turned out we saw the otters fairly regularly and decided to stay a further week. Mr Oldfield who owns the CL is superb. He welcomes all guests with a present of 6 new laid eggs and is a fountain of knowledge. Nothing is too much trouble for him. Indeed on one evening knowing that my wife wanted to photograph the deer coming out of Leighton Moss, which his CL backs onto he came round and picked her up in his Landrover and took her round the estate to show her were the deer are and obtain her photos. We shall certainly return

Great weekend get away

We were looking for a peaceful CL with plenty of walks from the caravan - Brow Foot Farm definitely delivered.  Easy to find and get to. Good sized pitches. We will be back soon.

Outdoor Activity Haven

Stayed two nights from 07/03/2014 Brilliant site for all types of outdoor activities. Our second stay here. The only Slight drawback for us in the Motorhome is the farm track and the potholes, we get a pronounced rock on going up the drive, also the hardstandings are begining to grass over slightly which makes them slippy to get on to in the wet. Motorhomers, you Must stay on the hard surface when manoeuvring onto the pitch.

Boomerang - we keep going back!

This has to be one of the best sites we have stayed on, with friendly chickens who you just have to feed! In a lovely location for peace and quiet with good views over Leighton Moss RSPB and Morcambe Bay. Lots of good walking from the site including Haweswater and Gatebarrow Nature Reserves, Leighton Moss Reserve and Silverdale Moss and village. Wildlife we have seen from site include Marsh and Hen Harrier, Buzzards overhead, lots of woodland birds, woodpeckers and in the evenings Roe and red deer. An RSPB members' paradise, there is a super evening walk to causeway Public and Lower Hides from site with a chance to see otters, owls etc. Richard the siteowner friendly and welcoming - overall in our opinion the perfect CL for an active or relaxing break. Never had an issue with access or path, you may need a satellite for TV.
