We've been trying to get on to this C.L. for ages and finally cracked it. The wait was worth it. Well situated off the A515 Buxton to Ashbourne road. The turn in leads down a land to the farm and the CL. The C.L. has 3 H/S pitches and 2 Grass ones, although there is sufficient space to put a third unit on grass instead of H/S if you so prefer. The land does slope and there is a plentiful supply of wooden ramps supplied by the owners to assist you in levelling. We were lucky and bagged a pitch in the far corner which is perfectly level and H/S with wondrous views of the farmland. Water, recycling bins and Elsan points are excellent. The owners and their sons occupy the houses adjoining the CL and are on hand to answer any query and with the owners being caravaners themselves have a wealth of knowledge if needed. Both are extremely friendly. They even asked if I wanted a newspaper collecting and delivered done to the caravan step each morning. Never had that elsewhere. The farm is split by the High Peak Trail, used mostly by cyclists but you could walk along it for 4 kms to the Royal Oak at Hurdlow (recommended pub) if you so desire. The Tissington trail can be accessed 2 KMs along the trail so the car can stay on site. If you want walking then Hartington is 5 minutes away and many, many walks available in a fantastic walking county just a short drive away as well. We came away knackered after 8 days of exercise! Downsides? Every CL has one. The only one I can find is that some people (not us) may find farm work noisy and the Cows won't be a respecter of anyone trying to sleep in if they happen to be in an adjacent field. It would be a pity if you felt that way as you should expect such things on a Working Farm. Would we return again? You bet but we may have to wait a while to get on. Be aware that there are many returnees, a sure sign of a good, well run C.L. There is a separate 5 unit area well away from the CL with Hardstanding pitches, a bit closer together but with grass opposite to sit out on, with access to the Trail as well.
