Great CL

We have stayed here a few times now. 2 small dogs and 2 adults. Functional WC with hot running water in the sink. No shower facilities, however for us that was not an issue. Lovely little site that has access to the small commercial site next door, we used this when we had a group of friends pitch there and we were on the CL. (We did not use the commercial sites facilities). Great pub around a mile walk along the road (no pavements), the pub does lovely food and allows dogs, so a bonus for us. Mrs Hayton is a lovely lady who never bothers you and allows you to get on with your stay as you like, within reason of course. Hard standing pitches with water, EHU, WC and waste disposal on site, what more do you need at £14 per night.

A once lovely site, but motorway and construction noise now prevalent Public footpaths closed to canal.

This once peaceful site has been the victim of aHighways Agency order. Effectively building a new motorway just a short distance from site. So expect heavy machinery just a few The access to canal via public footpath is now not available. The only way is to walk along the roadway, but this is a bit dicey especially if you have a dog. The construction of a new motorway has ruined the view northwards from the canal. And construction noise can be heard every day. Also a farmhouse is being constructed very close to the site so expect a less than tranquil visit. There is no information or laundry room on this site. In time when all is finished about 18 months then peace may return after landscaping is finished and footpaths restored

Bryars Farm, Preston.....A grand site.

This site has just recently had newly laid large level Hardstanding pitches installed and so is even better than the last time we visited. It is easily accessed being about 10 min from the M6 & M55, so is a good stopping off point for anyone travelling either north or south. There is also plenty of places close by to visit so good for an extended stay. It has EHU and a perfectly adequate wc, complete with hot water. The CL site lies about 200 m from the quiet main road, just beyond, but separate from, a small 22 pitch commercial site. There are a couple of footpaths that run by the site and one can walk down to the Lancaster Canal and all the way into Preston, should you wish. A fine peaceful site and a bargain at £12 pn. We will certainly visit again in the future.

Excellent

We use this site when visiting family in the area. Peaceful and clean. We have our own facilities and so only need the ehu and waste emptying area. TV reception good, great for the dogs. Easy to get to from M6 (roads are not too narrow). Would definitely recommend this site.

Good clean site. Great for a stopover.

I spent one night here last week on my way to a festival. I wanted somewhere close to the motorway, with electrics, so I could hit the festival fully charged, and which would take dogs. This site easily fitted the bill. Arrival was a bit strange. I pitched up then followed the signs to find the owner. There was very little interaction and I didn't find the toilet until the next morning, relying on fellow caravanners for information. However the site has all you need-water, electricity, emptying facilities, a clean toilet in a shed, nearby footpaths (more clearly signed from the bigger neighbouring site) etc etc -all for £10 a night. This can't be faulted! After a peaceful nights sleep I wandered down to the Lancaster Canal towpath on the advice of the owner and my Spanish resident neighbours, for a long walk before heading on down south again. I would use this site again as a stopover but probably not for a long stay.

Tlc

This is a lovely tidy site and peaceful, but would benefit from a lot more meeting and greeting, arrived and stayed only folk on site had trouble finding water as it is hidden in the hedge, no pipe on toilet washer, never saw owner appart from to tell us not to park on grass as it could rain middle of 3 weeks of hottest weeks in England, and needed shade under trees. Had to go and pay at number 3 as instructed on a notice board only to find note in window to pay next door. A bit of greeting your visitors would be nice and tell them were everything was.

Good for breaking up long Journey close to M6 M55

Basic site, Toilet elec. Good for traveling as a stopover to Scotland as we were. Good pleasant walk to village 10 min . Pub does good food at reasonable price. Look out for Caravan park sign as shares with a site of similar name C/L site at back of main park.

An excellent site.

A great place to come and chill out, summer or, as we are now, winter! Just stayed for 4 nights but will be back! Our hobby is Geocaching and this site is very handy for quite a few of them, including a series along the canal. Due to the worse than expected weather we will have to return some time next year. Not that it will be a hardship, especially as there is a super pub in the village of Lea Town, just a 10 minute walk away. We enjoyed 3 excellent meals in the Smithy Arms and would recommend it to anyone; a very friendly family run business. The facilities for smokers have to be seen to be believed! The Saddle, as mentioned in site directions, and in the other direction from the site, only serves food in the summer.

Ideal for what we wanted.

We (2 adults) stayed here for 2 nights to check out our new caravan, collected from a dealership in Preston, before returning home to Cumbria. We phoned to book in advance and the lady was friendly and efficient, as she was on arrival. You have to read the sign to see which house to go to for the CL - it's house number 3 of the barn conversion. The approach roads to the site, following the directions given, are of a decent width and the entrance from the road is easy to find as it is shared with Brylea Caravan Park which has signs at the driveway entrance. The CL is in a separate area to the back of the farm (follow the signs) and although the other site is visible I would not think it would intrude at all on the CL (it was closed while we were there). The CL has 5 well-spaced out, fairly level hardstandings with plenty of grass between and around them and each pitch has electric hookup close by. The water point and rubbish bins are by the entrance to the site and there is a toilet in a type of shed (did not use so cannot comment) with the Elsan emptying point on one side, screened by a fence, further into the site. The site was quiet and peaceful (with the quietest sheep we've ever come across!) but there was some train noise during the day and evening which was noticeable but not intrusive. Kirkham (where there is a Morrison's supermarket) was a 10-15 minute drive away, and it was just over 20 minutes to Lytham.  Blackpool is about the same distance away, as is Preston in the other direction. There are a couple of pubs serving food close by (at least 1 within easy walking distance) but we did not visit either of them so again cannot comment. We enjoyed our stay and would happily use again and consider the CL represents very good value at £10 per night.
