A pleasant surpise

We arrived Friday evening in the wet but no problems pitching up as hard-standings very spacious, Yes there is road noise (this is a B road so the traffic noise was not constant) & yes we did here dogs very occasionally, but did it put us off - No. The farmer arrived and explained where everything was - apart from the bins - there was none. There is a sign on the wall stating no dogs allowed but when we booked the owner confirmed our dogs where allowed on this site but insisted they where kept on leads as sheep where in the adjacent field - this we have no problem at all with and is a rule of the club anyway. Walking from the site with 2no Labradors wasn't perfect but the lane down the way was very good & the little church at the end was worth a visit with the river below. The owner did see us again (checking we cleaned up after our dogs!) I assured him we always clean up - even if we have to bring it home with our rubbish. All in all this is a lovely site for visiting north wales and was not put off by the minor issues we found, We did feel secure even though there is direct access from the road (The farm house adjacent is occupied & the people use the CL access to there house) would I go back - 100%yes. a well kept & clean site with great views.

We really like it here but.....

We’ve stayed here a few times now and thats mainly the location, lovely walled garden and the hard standing site. We hope to visit in the future too but there’s a few points others have mentioned which we have to agree with,... - The noise of dogs isn’t the fault of the site or the neighbours, there obviously somewhere in the area with a few dogs, - when we went in January there apwere no bun or recycling facilities, - thankfully dogs are permitted, we have been challenged by another caravanner once as the website and book differed, - the owners are great on the phone but one of the owners does turn up on the tractor and it does come across as just there for the money (and no receipts). We have been charged for an extra car once and that did leave a bitter taste as why is there such a need? The site is 2 miles from the other site they have so it is a case of just popping in and then leaving. But other sites do a bit more customer service. - the site does need some investment and security - it is v open right onto a main road, I’m hoping this is constructive as overall we like it here...

Dog or no dog that is the question.

Visited this site in August, dogs welcome on this site? We arrived, set up and were visited by owner who took our money. Walking around the site there is a sign which says ‘ no dogs’. Didn’t see the owner again in the 4 days of our stay, not secure and direct access on to main road. Facilities are basic, chemical toilet very poor access, pricey compared to facilities on other cl.

Beautiful, Peaceful stay

We have just stayed for the May bank holiday on this lovely peaceful site. It is very easy to find from the road and easy to follow using the sat nav. Only having 4 other caravans on site made it lovely and quite. They are very welcoming of pets and children. Our aim was to visit the Llandudno Transport Festival, which was attainable with a 20 minute journey taking you right to the field. We would definitely stay on this site again, there is a pub at the end on the road which looks a very welcoming place that also accept dogs (Although we didn't visit here). The price of the site is affordable for the facilities.

Good site but comes with a smell!

We stayed on this site for four nights. It is a lovely setting in a walled garden with views of the mountains. For motor homers there is a bus every 2 hours from outside the site which goes to Llandudno and Conwy one way and Betsw-y-Coed the other. We also visited Bodnant Gardens which is just down the road. We were not troubled by barking dogs as was a previous reviewer but we have to agree there is a smell! At first it appeared to be just a typical farm aroma which would not bother us but then the wind changed direction and it was very strong and unpleasant.

noisy dogs

a small well kept area, spoilt by the horrid smell from the adjacent field, really offputting whilst eating. the constant barking of the dogs in the farm is really annoying, theres no gate on the entrance, hence no form of security. also be aware of the farm traffic, and the speed at which they travel through the site,(fast). no where in the immediate are to buy provisions, or to eat.and the local pub is closed. for a weekend though, the price is fair.

Good site, but...

This is potentially a great site in a lovely area - large hardstanding pitches in a former walled garden, hook-up and TV booster (a nice addition), at a reasonable fee. But barking farm dogs in an adjacent building was an irritant, especially during the night and at 6am! The owner also needs to put as much effort into cutting the grass and emptying the over-flowing bin as he did in collecting the money...

Pros & Cons

The CL has 5 generously sized pitches with shale-like hard standing. Accessibility is straightforward with the B5106 adjacent. EHU and water are available. The bus stop is at the site entrance with the No. 19 Arriva giving easy access to Llandudno or Betws-y-Coed. This CL is idealy placed to explore the delights of this part of North Wales - Portmeirion is a must. Pity about the barking dog!
