Very nice site, well located

We stayed one night with our campervan in October having been on The Broads at Wroxham for the day. It's a large site with plenty of space between pitches although we were the only ones there. We didn't see the owners and paid for the stay in advance by bank transfer. Well located for The Broads, Norwich, Great Yarmouth and the coast up to Cromer. The fresh water supply is in one corner of the field, the waste disposal in the other. The waste area was very clean but there is no running water, just a water butt to sluice out the Elsan. We didn't have to try this out as we were only there the one night.

Peaceful stay near the Broads

We decided to stay near the Broads for three nights and were delighted with this site. We were on Pitch 5 which is on a slight slope butCharlotte was happy for us to park side on rather than parallel with the other vehicles. As pitch 5 is the furthest from the power point, an additional power lead was provided to enable us to hook up to power. As stated in previous reviews, at the bottom of the slope is the water point which was very damp. We decided to fill up with water from the road adjacent to the field rather than risk getting stuck which was very easy as there is little road traffic. The site is very quiet with lots of signs and sounds of nature all around. Close to Horning where we had a stand up paddle board lesson at Go Paddle (to be recommended) and also hired a day boat from Norfolk Boat Hire for 3 hours.

An enjoyable stay on a quiet site

We enjoyed our stay here, despite being the only people. As previously noted, the lane in is quite narrow, but no problem in our 7m long motorhome. We saw a heron every day by the pond on the site, barn owl flying round every night, pheasants and deer. Electric hookup provided, in one corner of the field is a water tap - didn't want to drive to it as it's on a slight slope and damp and was frightened of getting stuck, but it is accessible from the lane too. In the other corner is a toilet dump, which is a plastic dustbin half buried over a septic tank, with a water butt and bucket for washing. TV reception is good, mobile signal on three network almost non existent, on O2 it was ok. Great location for accessing Broads by bike, all on lanes seldom used by cars. About 4 miles to Wroxham, 3 to Horning, 2 to Neatishead and the boardwalk (definitely worth it) all flat, no hills. Lots of pubs in Wroxham and Horning, next to the Broads, 1 pub in Neatishead which we didn't visit. Took a boat out from Wroxham to Horning, £20/hour, needed 3 hours to get to Horning and back to Wroxham with deviations into Broads and beer at The Swan. Excellent few days.

Away from the madding crowd

Great location and accurate directions from volvovanner. We had a lovely holiday in July and could not of wished for better weather as we were cycling everyday on our Tandem bike. Looking forward to next summer though we can not guarantee to bring the sun again!! Thank you Charlotte. x

Late booking !! An found by chance !

The site has every thing we needed an wanted ,ehu, water supply, waste disposal site ! Large pitch on a a rough cut paddock , Total silence and an abundance of wild life, while the site isn’t scenic it is natural countryside, On a night there is only natural lighting, We definitely visit again as it is also a good base to travel an visit from.

Wonderful new find bolt hole

Found this site which is only around 40 minutes from home in Norfolk almost by accident and so glad we did. Booking was easily arranged online with Charlotte who was very prompt with her replies. Was a tad sceptical about access having read an older review so came over for a recce one evening. We have a large 8’ wide twin axle caravan and I am extremely particular with it and do not want to take it anywhere where it could be damaged. We also had my (almost 90 year old) parents coming with us in their caravan so needed to ensure a good experience for them as well. The site is accessed off the main road out of Wroxham heading towards the cost, the turn off is good and wide. After a few hundred yards you turn right into Cangate Lane which is a country lane and single track but to be fair there are passing places which may be required if a vehicle comes the other way during the 1/2 mile you will be on it. You then turn right again into the access track for the site, the entrance is good and the track, although a little uneven is well established and firm gravel. It is wide enough for large caravans or motorhomes. The site is then on the left after a few hundred yards with an ok entrance as long as you take care (soft vegetation each side of the opening ensure no damage again). There are of course 5 pitches with 1 at the top and 5 the bottom of a gently sloping site. Pitches 1-3 are the most level and 4 and 5 are still ok to level a twin axle caravan as the owner is happy for you to pitch end on or side on (we pitched side-on on pitch 4). This site is an oasis of typical Norfolk Broadland. The pitches are mown grass (not like a lawn to be fair but quite acceptable and looks onto a wonderful meadow backed by a small wooded area, the flora and fauna is beautiful and very ‘Norfolk Broadland’. There is a water tap in one corner and a recycling/bins/Elsa point in the opposite corner, all very easy to use and clean and tidy. Although only a mile from the main road the site is very peaceful - we were joined by a small deer grazing happily on the edge of the woods on the first evening. The village of Neatishead is around a mile away with a small shop, a wonderful country pub/restaurant (The White Horse), 2 x staithes and a lovely walk via a quiet lane to the Barton Broad board-walk (there is a car-park (ok for motorhomes) and toilet At the start. Charlotte and her family made our stay most enjoyable and were very accommodating and we will definitely be back here and felt it would be good to bring the reviews for the site up to date, Charlotte having taken the running of the site over from her mother for the first time this (challenging) season. Thank you Charlotte.

debatable!!!

There are two ways to look at this site , if you want to save money , then stay here we saved a lot towards diesel cost , but the site is a bit on the rough side the first thing you see is the lane down to the house about half mile just wide enough for the van hoping you dont meet another car no passing places , the next lane onto the site is overgrown and narrow with overgrown narrow entrance if you have a large van you will have no chance of getting in , the grass was half cut and 1 tap bottom of site a septic tank with just a barrel and bucket to rinse toilet , we would have moved on but my wife was not well the site would be a lotbetter if everthing was cut back , we got bit a lot from the mosquito around the tap , so the choice is yours  baring in mind its £10 a night but we have been on much better for same price  .
