Having arrived at the site a very warm welcome awaited us. Andy made our 5 night stay very enjoyable. Nothing was too much trouble, he’s full of local knowledge and generally a very nice guy to chat to. He lets you get on with your holiday but is always about if you need anything. Pitches are a fantastic size, having water and electric on the pitch is a bonus. We will definitely return, thank you Andy.
What a beautiful campsite!
The fully serviced pitches were very spacious, the site well maintained and reasonably priced.
Andy, the owner is always on hand and regularly checks that everything is ok. He is very welcoming, even to our dogs. You can think of him as your personal Sat Nav as he has a wealth of knowledge on the local areas, where to visit and also the cheapest places to park.
We will definitely be back to stay in the near future.
Thank you Andy
We often look at reviews but take them with a 'pinch of salt'..... Carnbrae has great reviews, can it honestly be that good? Is Andy the 'hostess with the mostess?'
Lyme Regis is quite wonderful, as is the surrounding area, we only live 70 miles away, so very easy for a short break, but also great for a lengthy stay, there is so much to see and do. We have stayed at a few Lyme sites, and not found one we really enjoyed, for one reason or another. If you have a camper/motorhome then bikes are a must; Ebikes, if like us, you are of pensionable age.... Obviously with a caravan, then brave the narrow lanes, they are not a problem. Locals are used to tractors etc, it's fine! Make sure you listen to Andy's directions.
So, Carnbrae. Easy access, large pea gravel pitches, water and electric on each. Lovely location, best we've stayed at for Lyme. So much to do in the local area. Nearest pub, The Talbot Arms, is homely and Sunday lunch is an excellent home cooked roast. Funnily enough they know Andy... who is such a fountain of local knowledge (actually knowledge in general!) and is on hand with any advice or help you need. Would we recommend Carnbrae? Absolutely. Lovely, peaceful site, and brilliant welcoming host!
We have to start this review by endorsing all the previous recent reviews on this cl site, having spent two weeks there in July.
It is a lovely peaceful site with large hard standing pitches and a wide gravel access track to each pitch, which makes manoeuvring easy. The pitches are fully serviced with the grey waste pipe feeding into the hedgerow. Andy the host is very friendly and helpful with his local knowledge (the cream tea he recommended was well worth the visit!) and he keeps the site very clean and tidy. There is so much to see and do in the area, with good access to places in Devon, Dorset and Somerset. Trinity Hill Nature Reserve is a short walk from the site. A longer walk to Lyme Regis is worth doing if you are feeling fit – with the pub in Uplyme a good half way rest point. The footpath along the Lim Valley from Uplyme into Lyme Regis is an easy walk and really lovely.
We wouldn’t hesitate to return to Andy’s site and would definitely recommend it. Thanks Andy.
We stayed here for 6 nights in July 2024. I have to say this is one of the best CL sites we have been on. Andy who runs it has got everything spot on. It has generous fully serviced pitches which are flat and hard standing. It is very peaceful but only a short drive from some of the most spectacular coastlines you will see. We had a fantastic time and won’t hesitate in going back. Andy, the owner is brilliant he is very friendly and has a wealth of knowledge about the area. His attention to detail is commendable in the way he looks after his site, it’s all just perfect. Massive thanks from Phil & Diane in Cheshire
We had a wonderful 3 days at Carnbrae! The site itself is well-maintained with lovely, large hardstanding pitches - each with own EHU and water tap. Andy, the host came round every day to say hi and check that we were ok. He gave us lots of local knowledge and advice on where to go and best ways to get there to avoid traffic, queues etc. There is so much to do in the area. There's a lovely, easy drive and park and then 1.5 mile walk into Lyme Regis. Honiton has a very interesting, long High Street with a large selection of independent shops. There's a choice of golf courses in the area, an abundance of beautiful walks both inland and coastal and lots more. I would highly recommend this CL site and would love to visit again. Thank you Andy. :)
Wonderful long weekend here. Andy was very welcoming and full of local knowledge. The sun shone but it was so peaceful and tranquil it would have been lovely in the rain. Water and hookup for each pitch, which were very generous in size. Lovely walks straight from the site. Very clear directions and easy to follow.
We have just returned from our first visit to this little spot in paradise. This site has to be the best we have ever visited. The location is superb, with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside, and easy access from the road. The fully serviced pitches are huge with brilliant gravel which does not tread into your caravan, and you are able to position your unit to suit your needs. The only sound we could hear was birdsong. There are so many places to visit nearby and walks directly from the site.
Andy is the perfect host, very friendly, welcoming and helpful. We will certainly be back and recommend this site to our friends. Thank you so much Andy - our visit was blissful.
We can’t recommend this site more highly. Now that Andy has created hard standing pitches we can come more often. Our very favourite local CL, only an hour away from home but like another world, so quiet and relaxing. So thrilled that we can still position the van any way we like on the huge pitches. Andy is one of the friendliest CL hosts we have experienced. The location is perfect, close enough to everything Lyme Regis and Axemouth have to offer but well away from road noise or other irritations. Thank you Andy.
Just lovely! Extremely welcoming and helpful. Andy went out of his way in every way.
The site is well positioned for everything in the east of Devon and west of Dorset, particularly Lyme Regis.
The hard standings and dedicated water and electricity was very convenient and easy to use.
The dogs are allowed but (good) rules on control and clean up.
Not near any main roads so safe as well as quite.
We will be back as living in mid Dorset it’s an hours drive for us.
Thanks Andy.
