Disappointed

Level pitches with well cut grass . Very close to the road so noisy. Dog walks are on the road from the site or drive about a mile away to the woods. Wi wasn’t available from the pitch we were on .

Excellent site with fantastic owners, very welcoming.

Very well presented site, John and Elaine are so friendly a lovely couple and meggy the Jack Russel is great. John and Elaine have done everything required to make the site covid safe with signage and sanitiser placed by the taps and bins. The site is small with only 4 hook up points and 1 non electric pitch. We were the only outfit on there for the weekend and loved having the place to ourselves. There are plenty of places to walk, East Stockwith is a couple of miles down the road with some good walks along the river Trent. There's a couple of pubs near by but can't give a recommendation on them as we didn't venture in. We will be doing on our next visit though, another weekend retreat to add to our list.

Perfect stopover

We stayed here for two nights on our way up towards Yorkshire. This was a perfect stopover for a couple of nights for us to chill out and relax. Extremely welcoming owners and a very pretty little CL. Thank you Jon & Elaine for the making us feel very safe with all the precautions you have taken to make your site Covid safe. Thank you also for the lavender, our van smells lovely.

Wonderful CL

Absolutely faultless site. Beautifully manicured grass pitches with lots of room between, toilet spotlessly clean. We spent three nights here and I can hand on heart say that if you travel the world over you will not find nicer, more hospitable owners than John and Elaine. It is a little remote, the nearest pub is 2 miles away, and yes there is no sink in the excellent toilet but so what? we have one in the van! Free Wi-fi but to be fair its somewhat sporadic. To sum up, free Wi-fi - electric hook-up included in the price - spotless toilet - superb owners - all for £12 per night for two adults! Stunning value for money, and an easy two hours from Bishop Auckland, we will most definitely return.

Lovely little site

We had trouble locating site as sign was difficult to spot and it can be a bit of a tight turn to get into the site. The owners were lovely, very welcoming and spent time chatting to us. They had put together a pack of places that might interest us as a family based on the ages of our children which we felt was a really nice touch. We had a choice of pitches to chose from as were the only campers booked in that weekend. We were told the boundaries of where we were allowed to go, which was acceptable due to it having heavy machines on site. Plenty of space for the kids to run around and play games. The site has a toilet but it’s worth noting that there is no sink just hand gel which some folk might not be totally happy about using. Our recommendation to owners would be to consider plumbing a small sink in as might encourage more folk to make a return visit. We experienced a little trouble with ants in the field taking a shine to our camping chairs and table but to be honest it’s just part and parcel of camping isn’t it?! The site was within reasonable driving distance of many local attractions and we enjoyed checking these out. We would definitely stay here again if in the area for a stay due to the friendliness of the owners and the location of the site to local attractions.
