Beautiful and Peaceful Site

Just returned from a lovely weekend at this tranquil and picturesque site set in beautiful countryside. The site is well positioned for cracking walks along the Grantham canal or Viking way truly spoilt for choice. The site has the amenities you require and the owners were polite and helpful making us feel welcome. We would definitely return again. Thank you.

A little gem,

By comparison having used CLS for some years Casthorpe is a real find which started with a prompt response to our enquiry re availability to the warmest greeting on arrival with a wealth of information on the local area . Easy to find with clear directions and signs. Security gates into the paddock which was reassuring. We look forward to visiting again soon.

Always A Warm Welcome

This is a real gem of a site, quiet, secure, close to a small selection of local shops and Take-Away, good walking and cycling all around including along the Grantham canal to two excellent Pubs in Woolsthorpe-by-Belvoir. A combination of hard standing pitches and grassed area ensure you can select a pitch to suit your preference. I found one of the pitches to be slightly unlevel but this doesn't cause too many problems if it's the last one available. Living locally I have used this site on numerous occasions to test out the renovations on my 1967 Cheltenham Springbok. My first visit set the tone for a very friendly sequence of visits. I had just collected a rather dilapidated looking vintage van - algae green with black streaks and a broken front window. Helen took it all in her stride and once I had convinced her I wasn't a new age traveller we enjoyed many a chat about the (very slow) progress I was making on the renovation project with each visit. Sadly, the site is so conducive to peaceful reading, dog walking or just watching the world hardly go by not much renovating work got done while I was on site! Access to the site is via an electronic five bar gate with your own access code giving a secure feel to the field. In the unlikely event of problems the house is adjacent to the field. Power is supplied from one distribution board but don't worry if your lead isn't long enough, extensions are supplied. Ill health has meant that my visits have been curtailed for quite a while now and my Cheltenham has moved on to new owners. I will get myself a new unit (well newer than 1967) in time and I can say with almost certainty my first test run will be to Casthorpe House Farm. A highly recommended site, give it a try, but book in advance during peak season and popular holiday periods.

Great site. Very helpfull owner.

This is our first visit to this site on our month long tour of England from 16th December 2016 to 16th January 2017. The site is only 3 mile from the Main A1 & about 4 mile from Grantham town centre. From the moment we arrived we found Helen the owner more than helpful. Even when my wife had a health problem which meant she needed to see a doctor Helen gave us details of a doctors surgery in the area which helped my wife. We can not praise Helen enough. We would recommend this site highly and would return in the future.

Welcoming first visit

Although we didn't meet Helen she was very helpful and welcoming on the phone when I booked and everything was self explanatory when we arrived. A lovely peaceful place with information about the surroundings displayed. A thoughtful addition was an OS map which allowed us to walk out from the site and explore our surroundings. If you only stay on a CL for a couple of nights (and we did - circumstances didn't allow any longer)) it is expensive to buy your own map and I hate being without one! We loved this extra touch. We would definitely stay again.

A lovely CL

Based on a first visit - sadly only one wet afternoon and night - I can't help but agree with all the good reviews. It is a lovely spot and we were captivated by the large numbers of swallows flying around the field. I must especially mention the extremely helpful and considerate welcome we received from Helen, where she had reserved a flat pitch for us and showed us everything, despite pouring rain when we arrived. We were also lent an electric cable because I was concerned about using mine from the pitch we used. Generally we could not have been made to feel more welcome. It is a great site for running and road cycling. (I didn't fancy a swim in the rather green canal water.) There are numerous options for offroad running, including along the canal which is close by, although I had to be cautious of the male swam guarding his cygnets on the towpath. From taking part in events in previous years close by I also know there are lovely quiet lanes for road cycling and running. (I don't understand the previous reviewer's comment "the noise from the traffic was terrible". I doubt there is a quieter lane anywhere - I ran along its full length and didn't see one single vehicle.) All in all I thoroughly recommend this CL.

Disappointed

Hello,  We were looking forward to a quite weekend away.   we read the reviews for the site and expected great things, unfortunately we got the last available pitch that was not flat, and next to the road, so the new awning that i had purchased the weekend earlier, would not sit correctly, and then the noise from the traffic was terrible.

Message from the Club:

Thank you for your review. We regret to hear that you did not enjoy your time on site, and that you were pitched on an uneven patch. We offer a 1.5 acre site, and would have been more than happy to direct you to a flat pitch. We would welcome you to contact us directly if you wish to discuss your experience in further detail. We look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back to experience the high standard of service we have become known for.

Return Visit

Back again and very pleased that we did. The site is very quiet although only about 3mls off the A1. A warm welcome from Helen, who had text us the security gate code prior to our arrival. The H/S pitches are adequate and there is also plenty of room on the grass for those that prefer that. The EHU points are all on one point but Helen supplies additional extension leads for those that pitch far from the hookup points. There are plenty of walks and cycle routes, both road and off road, close to the site and Belvior Castle is within walking distance for the fit, or about 8 mls away by car, and Belton House (N/T) is not too distant. Grantham has all the supermarkets that one would want, and there is a Boundry Mill, for those with retail therapy withdrawal systems, at the next junction north on the A1. We will certainly use this site in the future as there are more places for us to explore than we had time for this trip.

Back Again!

As regular visitors to this site over the last 5 years we had an opportunity to try elsewhere but we soon realised what we were missing at Casthorpe and soon returned. Always a friendly welcome from Helen and Neil who will go out of their way to accommodate your requests. Great facilities, tranquil setting, well placed hard standings to name but three. I read in one of the earlier reviews about the piece of hosepipe on the fresh water tap well why not just unscrew it, connect yours, fill up your motorhome and then rescrew on the connector with the piece of hosepipe. That's what I do, fairly simple solution?

Crowing back to Casthorpe

Just spent another grand 8 days at Casthorpe receiving the usual warm welcome from the lairds wife Helen!! Fez the pheasant was strutting his stuff as usual, escaped the glorious 12th again thank goodness, made a new friend with Billy the cockerel this time we can now converse in 'cockerilian 'and enjoyed a regular morning duet, much to the amusement of all there and why not. Tranquility, ambience, and found even more great walks this time. Roll on!!
