Peaceful and Friendly

Just returned from a wonderful 6 night stay at this great site, we were welcomed on arrival by a lovely, helpful and friendly young lady ( one of the daughters I believe) There isn't a tv or phone signal here, but honestly, it was bliss! It was nice to get away from technology for a while, it was also fab for looking at the night sky on a clear night. Will definitely be returning

Beautiful site.

This site has some of the best views i've ever had on a CL. The site owners are lovely and its well looked after. There are two fields to choose between, the top field has the best views and the bottom field has the best water pressure so go for the top field and walk down for water. There is a slope on the field but it wasn't bad and we didn't even bother chocking a wheel. The TV reception isn't great but we don't go away to watch TV so it didn't worry us. Whitby is 10 mies one direction and scarbrough is 15 the other way. Robin Hoods Bay is only 4 miles away. We got no phone signal at all on the site ( O2 ) which isn't a massive problem but if this site had WIFI it would make it one of my favorite CL's ever. We don't want to surf the net but WIFi would mean you can check the days weather and download my news papers.

Lovely site

We have just returned from 8 nights on this site. Our welcome was warm and friendly and we were given a choice of pitch. We chose the lower field backing on to trees . The view from the bottom pitches isn't as far reaching as the view from the top pitches but its very pleasant non the less, made extra nice by the gorse being in bloom. We felt fully immersed in green fields and budding trees. The birds were also a bonus, we watched 2 gold finches build a nest in the tree behind us. The chemical emptying point is surrounded by a fence and is good to use. The drinking water is close by and rubbish/recycling is near the entrance. Thanks to Katie and Abi and the rest of the family, we really enjoyed ourselves. Chris and Ian Lowes

Lovely quiet site. Owners very nice. Everything excellent and ideal for Whitby/Scarborough and Ravenscar coastal walk. We could not get a mobile signal but our neighbours got one. We picked ours up just outside the site. Garage and useful shop within a couple of miles (on A171 towards Whitby). Perfect place if you want peace and quiet with EHU.

Perfect for Whitby, Scarborough and North Yorkshire coast

We have been Club members for 39 years and this site comes high on our list. Warm welcome from a farming family who set out to please. Two pitching areas, one behind a substantial hedge backing on to a country road has some noise, but caused us no problems. A lower area, which has the toilet waste disposal point, is possibly more sheltered, but our choice was the higher area with long distance views. We had an excellent five days, watching farming activities between visits off site. Most reviews of Castlebeck share our opinions of this site. I would urge club members to question the accuracy of some of the others. They do not seem to have visted the same site. If we look hard for something to criticise, it would only be the water pressure on the upper area. But we were on holiday. There was no hurry filling an Aquaroll - just an opportunity to admire the view. Thank you for a very pleasant stay.

Perfect

We booked this pretty last minute but were happily accommodated by the owners. This is a great site, perfectly situated a mile or so off the Scarborough to Whitby road. It is a 20 minute drive to either destination and Robin Hood's Bay is not far either. However this site is far enough off the beaten track to enjoy plenty of peace and tranquillity. There are actually eight pitches, 3 on a higher level nearer the road and 5 lower down sheltered behind trees but only 5 in use obviously. We went on the lower part. The girls loved watching the new lambs in the field next to us. The owner's daughter was extremely welcoming to us and even gave us a tour of the farm. Would not hesitate to return and is one of the best sites we have stayed in. Great walks just up the road from the site, some glorious woodland walking and some nice running and cycling tracks in the forest.

September 2018

A gorgeous little site tucked out of the way between Scarborough and Whitby. Welcoming owner, large area to choose a pitch. Friendly locals, even the sheep popped their head around the door! The site is sloping but levelling blocks sorted that. Gorgeous views over the moors and forests. No tv signal or mobile signal and after 7 nights we rediscovered our sense of fun and laughed a lot. The wind was a bit of an issue, but we cannot stop the weather. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back!

A lovely CL

We are new motorhomers who are keen to stay on small peaceful sites. We joined the club in order to access the CL's. Castlebeck Farm was the first one we have tried and it did not disappoint. We stayed for two nights in July, booking at very short notice. Katie, the owner was very helpful on the phone and told us that we should just choose our pitch if she wasn't around to greet us. We chose the top field where there are 3 pitches since it had a better view. There was a slight slope but we were able to try our levelling ramps out for the first time, they worked! The bottom field was flatter. It was also our first time on a hook up, refilling the water tank and emptying the waste. All went without a hitch. Although there was a road the other side of the hedge from our pitch it wasn't busy and we certainly weren't disturbed at night. There were only two other caravans on site. For us it was perfect and just what we had hoped a CL site would be. We are certainly keen to try more.

Shhh, don't tell anyone else about this great CL!

This is a wonderful site in a great location and very peaceful. As others have mentioned there is no tv or phone signals to disturb the peace, just the occasional lambs calling their mums. There is even a pub a few minutes drive away that serves good food. Talking of good food, Abi at the farm cooks a mean lemon drizzle cake. Would definately visit again if in the area.

Little beauty

This is the second time we have visited this site and yet again it didn't disappoint. It is well kept, very peaceful, with lovely views. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. My husband loves it as there is no tv or phone signal, in his words perfect!!! It is well placed for visiting Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay, Scarborough and beyond. We will definitely be back
