The view was lovely and the site peaceful. We were greeted with a nice welcome and told where to park and where the tap and waste disposal was. That evening we went into town to watch the england game and told the guy at the house before we left that we’d be back late. We got back at 12.30 and found the gate to be shut. We opened it carefully and we’re then surprised to hear a woman shouting from a window asking us who we were and complaining that we’d set off all the alarms from opening the gate. We were completely unaware of this and apologised and felt pretty uncomfortable about it. The matter was brought up again as we left two days later by the owner of the farm who made a point of letting us know what a nuisance we were and didn’t seem to believe we were not told about a curfew/security alarm. Apparently there is a sign about it somewhere on the gate to the CL part of the site but we never saw it. Shame we had to have another awkward conversation about it on departure especially as we did apologise on the night. Not the first time it’s happened we were told so in future we’d suggest you tell your guests clear information on arrival to avoid this issue! The site is very cheap but the money saved was not worth uncomfortable atmosphere!
