Perfect site!

We used this site when we visited Chester and couldn't rate it highly enough. We were greeted and escorted to our pitch and the owner couldn't do enough for us. He had a great knowledge of the area and was accommodating to our every need. The site was quiet, safe and incredibly clean and the children lived having the space to play. It is local to everywhere and there's a lovely walk down the canal towpath for the dog. We can't wait to stay again and highly recommended it to others.

Lovely site

This site is lovely and next to a canal, you can see the narrow boats passing by frequently. There is some motorway noise but nothing too loud. The owner of the site is lovely and the emailed instructions about how to get to the site were very concise. We saw him on the first day and he was very helpful with local information but said that he would let us be, unless we had problems. The site is on a working farm but the CL is away from the main area. It is quite central to nearby roads so visiting Chester and the Wirral is easy and, if you have bikes or like walking, you can get to Chester via the canal path. Also the price reduces each night you are there so that is a bonus. We used this site to visit relatives in Chester and we would not hesitate to visit again In future.

Great first ever caravan trip.

Lovely CL, ample space to swallow 5 caravans and still have loads of room between vans. Excellent owners! This was our first ever caravan trip since purchasing our new van. John the owner was so easy to communicate with via e-mail that the booking was a breeze and after some car drama he was brilliantly flexible and a pleasure to deal with. Upon arrival we were met on the drive, gate opened and steered in the right direction and told where the water, waste and what not could be found and instantly became even more relaxed due to Johns attitude towards things, he truly is a gem and hope the many more CLs we visit are run by people like him. With it being our first trip out it was only local (all of 15 miles) and it was totally amazing to believe we where in the location we where (sandwiched between 2 motorways, Cheshire Oaks and Stanlow). Peaceful, lovely canal, lovely local pub, excellent owners, good dog walks, what more could you wish for? Even though local, we will use again.

A gem of a CL

We stayed here for 4 nights over the Easter bank holiday weekend. Prior to our arrival, the email communications with the owner couldn't have been more helpful. He really went out of his way to ensure that we were fully aware of directions and things to do in the area. On arrival, he was very friendly and directed us to a pitch close to the canal which was lovely. Apart from a small amount of road noise, it was a very quiet and relaxing place to be. We had a great day at Chester Zoo and enjoyed walking along the canal in both directions - a visit to the Boat Museum at Ellesmere Port is highly recommended and is within walking distance. We were in no hurry to leave and would definitely stay here again if we revisit the area.

Friendly and relaxing.

If you want a quiet farm type environment, this is for you. Some distant motorway noise , but otherwise very quiet and peaceful. Only yards from the canal and surround by horses with a couple of duck ponds. We had a very friendly welcome. You can walk the canal to Chester one way and to the canal museum at Ellesmere Port the other way.

It got better .. do not always trust first impressions

Very easy to book on line. Interesting fees that are a pound cheaper every night you stay. No one at home when we arrived so we proceeded through a run down farmyard (which I say as a farmer myself could have done with a good power hosing ) Thought "oh no". However the site itself was perfect on the bank of the canal. We had a lovely stay as the site is so close to so many interesting things. When we did get to meet the owner he was a perfect gentleman. We will use this site again.

Friendly, thoughtful owners.

We stayed here for 4 nights from 28th December to 1st January. We booked using e-mail and received prompt and friendly replies to our initial booking and follow-up e-mails. Although the pitches are all grass, in view of our concerns regarding the wet weather we were given the option of pitching at the end of the driveway onto the field, which we took advantage of. The owners had also thoughtfully left out an electric cable for us to use if ours wasn't long enough to reach one of the plentiful hook-up points. Another caravan did pitch on the field and seemed to have no problem, despite the field being soft in some parts. We fully agree with all the previous positive comments regarding the location, facilities and the site itself. Our dog especially appreciated walks along the canalside and the nearby bridle paths, easily accessible from the site. There was background noise from the motorway (except when drowned out by the wind and the rain!) but this did not bother us at all and despite the often wet and windy weather we greatly enjoyed our short break here and look forward to returning.

Christmas shopping at Cheshire Oaks

We stayed on this site the first weekend of December to go shopping at Cheshire Oaks. The site is very easy to find and well sign posted at the end of the drive. We arrived at about 5:30 and John the owner showed us the the pitches, we were surprised to be the only people on site. Cheshire oaks is easily in walking distance but staying here meant we could arrive early enough to get a good parking space for our motorhome. There are three friendly dogs that roam around the farm and come to say hello in the morning. The field is spacious and overlooks the canal. There is the tow path to walk along with the dog. The site has a cold water tap, electric hook up and a very clean chemical disposal area. There is a bit of mud but in the main it is very clean considering it is a working beef farm. It is very peaceful on site and reasonable quiet given how close it is to the motorway. Ten minutes walk to the village and you will find a very friendly local that allows you to take your dog in and serves excellent food. We will definitely be coming back in the summer.

Childhood memories

Driving in through the working farm yard brought back childhood memories of rallying on working farms. The site was lovely, green and well cared for, the views of the canal and the adjoining field were pleasurable. Cycled into Chester and Ellesmere along the tow path and had a day visit to Port Sunlight. Don't expect countryside silence as the site is handy for the motorway and major roads. Found a good Indian restaurant 'the Saffron' in Ellesmere. Really enjoyed our 4 nights. We will be back.

Going to be GREAT

Arrived in the pouring rain to be greeted by John who quickly gave us our greeting and off to our pitch we went. We drove to Cheshire Oaks because of the weather but could have walked along the canal. Next day the sun shone and the canal walks where lovely, we were only staying 2 nights and had not anticipated how nice this site was going to be, we visited Chester (ranks with the best) back to the site watched a heron walk the towpath and the narrow boats passing by should have stayed longer next time we will (if we can get booked in once this place is discovered). But somehow we will be back again.
