Most Disappointing.

This site has received previous reviews which noted the poor access to this site and the appalling toilet dump facility.... nothing has been done to remedy these items. The signage for the site is 40 metres away from the access lane, is almost unreadable at this distance and is easily missed... an overshoot of this entrance requires a round 8 mile extra drive to find a turnaround place. The site requires it's sign to be at the turn-off point and not hidden from view 40 metres away. The toilet dump is the filthiest most unhygenic facility that I have encountered in years of caravanning.... presented with a filthy toilet bowl which cannot be flushed the area is covered with excrement splashes and is totally unhealthy and not fit for purpose. You don't get to see the owner and what you see is what you get... uncut grass, rubbish in the hedgerows and so on. This could be a very good site but it suffers from neglect.

Access poor

The access is via a single track road with passing places, through a village and then along a another narrow track. The entrance is set back so easily missed as one elderly caravanner found to his cost. There is no Caravan site sign and the farm sign is in dark green hidden by brambles. We were told to shut the gate even if we found it open. That gate has not been shut in years and was impossible to lift. The entrance was overgrown with brambles which we tried to cut so they did not scratch the van. They grow quickly but it was obvious that the site was administered from a distance. The chemical emptying point was accessed through nettles. The day we were at the Arboretum a man came and spent the whole day STRIMMING an acre and a half. It drove the other people mad. Grass covered all our belongings around the van and the van sides to window level. We were not amused. He returned and parked next to our van at 8.45am and began strimming the rest of the site. Peace and quiet? There are two permanent vans on the site but there are ample EHU and water taps. This site could be lovely with some attention.

Grass views sunsets hook ups = peace

First... We are and have been for last 25 years dedicated CL users. Often choosing sites without hookups, but even we need some warmth on frosty late October/early November nights. So if you are wanting to compare with club sites probably skip this review. This is a lovely, quiet, peaceful site and we spent 5 nights here as October passed to November, we had some bright sunny crisp days, with some gorgeous sunsets. Yes at one side there are poultry sheds, but they are quite some distance away. The approach is a little bumpy, but is rewarded becauseif you want peace and quiet, this is lovely. If you don't... Why are you looking here! Hook ups are full 16 amps, there are plenty of taps and the disposal point does the job. I did not meet the owner but correspondence by e mail was first rate including sending out a welcome letter with lots of useful info, which was a first, as was being able to pay by bank transfer, simplicity itself. Oh and £50 for 5 nights that's good value! I liked this site and hope to visit again.

Simple and Pleasant Site.

We accessed this site from M42/J11 (the east) and via the Clifton Road route through Clifton Camperville, and it was very wide for an A-road never mind a country lane! Easy access, whereas the access from the west via Harlaston is quite tight with passing places, so some care would be needed. The site is as described by Louise the owner who we only dealt with via phone/text, and is a simple unpretentious, bucolic place. We found the combined ehu/water very handy, and we loved the site's grassy simplicity. We only found time locally for The Green Man in Clifton which gave us stupendous steak pies, great service, and lively friendly locals to chat to. The National Memorial is recommended, and Tamworth, Lichfield and Ashby-de-la-Zouch all have good eateries and within easy reach. All in all...an excellent choice!

Disappointed.

Stayed for one night only, owner did not turn up to collect fee but had the audacity to suggest I send a cheque or bankers draft for same. The chemical disposal point had what looked like an old blanket or sleeping bag at the bottom of it The sides of same was alive with snails. I requested a stamped addressed envelope be sent to my home . The £15.00 fee was paid immediately on my return from holiday. Could not really recommend this cl however from other reviews it obviously suits some.

Basic but peaceful site.

Owners are not on site but do visit daily. Ehu, water and waste disposal. Grass can be a bit uneven so be careful when walking around. Ideal for relaxing.

Beautifully quiet, basic site

What more could you wish for. This site has everything you need though it is not the prettiest that we have ever been to. There is a field, which is a little uneven in places, electric points (most of these also have a water tap), somewhere to dispose of rubbish and toilet waste. There are walks all around, although many of these are not on paved roads. There is an abundance of wildlife, particularly birds and we spotted sizes from wrens to buzzards. Such a pleasure to watch the birds in the hedges, including a blackbird building a nest in the hedge right next to the van. The owners were very helpful and although not based on the site, visited and made us very welcome. Close to villages with pubs where you can get a good meal and other places of interest in the area. We would certainly want to return.

Pleasant quiet site

We found this site very calm and peaceful. Fields all around. Facilities are basic but all that are needed. Some pitches even have their own tap for direct supply. The site is set in a beautiful area with very attractive villages all around. Easy access to many National Forest facilities. We found this is a good place to stay with plenty to do for a day out.

We are regular users from 185 miles away, rating, +++++++++++++++++++++

We like this site. We were pitched beside Mr Moanalot at the top, what a winger (can't please some people). The site is basic, but it is tranquil. It is nicely out of the way and a darn site better than some we have stayed on, beautiful bird song all day, horses in the field nearby. After another couple of years of settling in with regular mowing [that couldn't be done this year due to a 100 year negative weather cycle] the ground will be fine. Jude & I love it, we stay regular and visit the family. "Get real Mr Moanalot" these days people download walks from the net, but according to your final comment, you won't bother again.
