Spoilt by too many units

What started out well was spoilt by ‘extra’ units being allowed to pitch. The information said 5, 7 were squashed in and another four just over the fence on the farm. We visited the bathroom once and then used our own as it was basically an outside toilet used by the farm and livery stable clients as well as the CL. To be fair the information did say ‘not exclusive use’. The location is excellent and until ‘extra’ units came we had a lovely view. It’s ideal for touring the dales, we found lovely dog friendly pub grub. The Farmers Arms was excellent. Also a plethora of fast food outlets in the Garrison. Lidl is within walking distance. There is some traffic noise during the day but fairly quiet after 10pm.

Comment from the Club

Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review. There is a small commercial campsite on the land which is not part of the CL and there were caravans and motorhomes staying here. We have confirmed with the owner that the CL area can only ever have five pitches.

A lovely and convenient site

This site is only half an hour from our home but we wanted to try out our new caravan and awning so it was perfect. Very easy to find from the A1M and easy to access. A lovely friendly welcome from the owner, we were directed into the enclosed orchard which was immaculate, spacious and plenty of room for our car and awning. Views of the horses in the field and the distant hills were great. Easy to access waste points and water, and we were provided with lots of useful info about the area. Toilet and shower facilities were basic but adequate, we used our own facilities anyway. The site is on a working farm off the main road into Catterick which is extremely busy. There is some road noise during the day but much quieter at night. Overall a very nice site and we would stay again.

Lovely quiet site with very friendly owner.

We came across this amazing site in August when we where heading down south to join our friends for a week away. We had booked in for just the one night. However the owners where so welcoming we decided to stop off again on our journey back to edinburgh. When we first arrived we needed to go buy a new water pump for our van. Owner jokingly said anyone that goes to buy a part at ropers end up buying a new van. HE WAS SO RIGHT😆. We ended up buying a brant new van A Bailey Jive. We love it. We stayed over here when we came to pick up the new van, and again the owner was great. We are baxk again using the.site as a stop over on our way to North Alerton with our friends. Would certainly recommend this site and will definately use it again. Ian and Diane Reid (Edinburgh) and it is dog friendly.

Convenient for the Dales and Richmond

A most welcoming site close to the A1M Motorway and easy to find. We arrived after some heavy unseasonable rain which was a pity as the grass area for the pitches was pristine and maneuvering spoiled the surface somewhat. The site is conveniently situated for a large Tesco and many various fast food outlets, chemists etc. I marked less than 5 for peace and tranquility but only because it is a WORKING farm. The proprietor is most accommodating and approachable. Full of local knowledge (eg. - where to get the best local Pork Pies! :) ). He pulled all the stops out to make it possible for us to extend our stay by a couple of days. We were most grateful. On site, one will find all the "comforts of Camping" like easy access to drinking water, grey disposal and chemical toilet disposal. That said, the toilet facility next to the farm house is perfectly adequate and the wonderfully heated shower room next door is a great find, with plentiful hot water to boot. I have been to bigger sites which lacked the basic comfort of adequate heating in a shower block during unseasonable weather patterns. We will remember our stay at Colburn Grange Farm for many years to come and have no reservations in recommending it. If you can get a space! It appears we are not the only ones who have found this gem on the edge of the Dales. Many of the other campers are returnee's. Book early not to miss out.

Easter Bliss

We arrived at this beautiful certified site on Good Friday and was welcomed by the owner who was most informative about the area. We had an amazing weekend stay with our new little freedom caravan. Facilities spot on. We only live 30 Min drive from this site. We are coming back on the first May BH of the year and really looking forward to this. I would highly recommend this site. Also a short drive Richmond.

Gateway to the Dales

Stayed 5 nights over the Easter holidays. Great welcome by friendly owner into a nice tidy site. Nice views over the farm and beyond. Ideal for touring Wensleydale and Swaledale with lots of interesting things to do. Found it very peaceful. It's a short distance to the local Lidl, Tesco and Aldi together with a cinema and a swimming pool. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Just right

We recently used this CL for a mid-week stay. The access is no problem even for our long unit, although in very wet weather the gateway may become slippy. The CL is well maintained and the land owner is friendly and helpful. Access to local amenities is first class with two caravan dealerships only 20 minute drive away. This is a working farm and there is quite a bit of traffic plus some road noise but nothing we found intrusive. There is a toilet and a shower available but we did not use either. Overall, one we would consider retuning to and would recommend it to others who want to visit this area.

Enjoyable stay

Just had a mid-week break here & thoroughly enjoyed it. It is very easy to find and central for visiting the surrounding villages. Another review mentioned the noise from the main road which is close, but to us it wasn't intrusive. The facilities include a toilet, which is clean & serves the purpose & a power shower in a separate heated building. The owner is very friendly & helpful. This is a CL we will return to & can recommend it.
