Small, Friendly, Accommodating.

We are just coming to the end of a three week stay, at the tail end of October. On arrival we were greeted by Mr. Gray, who showed us around the site, and advised us where would be most suitable for us to pitch. His advice was spot on, as the heavy rain we experienced didn't affect our stay too much. Though the field is quite small in comparison to some other sites, we never felt cramped on our stay, despite owning a fairly large caravan and awning. I must point out though, if your caravan is 6 metres plus, but without a motor mover, you may find it difficult to pitch comfortably. As a previous reviewer points out, the hard standing area is just outside the field, in a no longer used horse stables. Instead the stables seem used for storage, and there are EHU points provided next to the stable doors. During our stay we've seen this area used comfortably by a number of caravans and motorhomes. The site itself is peaceful with pleasant views, however there is some traffic noise from the fairly busy road that leads to it. On the flip side however, the same road provides easy access to the M3, and also local areas such as Eastleigh, Southampton and Winchester. If you have a dog, turn right out of the site and walk for 200 yards, and you will find a large recreation ground with acres of space. One other final point wort mentioning, is that almost directly opposite the site you will find Winchester Caravans. So you will find more caravan supplies than you can shake a stick at during your stay! All in all its a great little CL that we will definitely make a regular pit stop ourselves.

lovely place

the only downside was a little bit of traffic noise at peak times. Other than that, the site is small, cosy, peaceful and comfortable. Such nice owners and handy for the pub, shop and dog walks. A good visit overall and one that we would certainly return to again.

Short Stay 2022

I had asked for a Hardstanding pitch with EHU but when we arrived 2 hours earlier than we thought there was no one in, rang the number on the door and were informed that the grass pitches were too wet to use and the Hardstanding pitches were between 2 blocks of stables and part of the drive, as we had booked 5 nights we decided not to stay, if the grass pitches had been usable we would have stayed or if we had only booked for a couple of nights. Did not meet the owners but the grass pitches were level and cozy in a small paddock. EHU were readily available and prices very reasonable, (when we went in March 2022 the nearby pub was closed for a refit)

Peaceful

What a lovely site, small but so lovely and peaceful, the bird song in the morning was wonderful. The owners Mr Gray and wife were Lovely they were extremely helpful and so accommodating. The sheep in the adjacent field were fun to watch. Only here for a couple of nights but will be back next year, with my sister and brother in law and our friends. Thank you for a lovely restful weekend, we will be back.

Ideal for the local tourist spots

This is a small CL, the photo reflects accurately, and facilities are easily to hand. A welcome notice board gives you all the information you need and a note on the house door gives more information and a phone number. Access is very easy but be warned that the site signs are not very visible from the road, (the trees have grown since Google Earth street view was taken). Turn immediately after the bollard. Site has a field view on one side only and there are trees on the other three which gives wind protection but limits the sun. We found during the day the site to be noisy, entirely from neighbours going about their normal business. Road noise was minimal. Site’s position is excellent. Bus routes nearby and easy drive to the park and ride. Weekday parking in Winchester is very expensive but free on Sunday.
