Very poor did not stay

Very bumpy access by derelict buildings, hard standing by a dirty and mouldy “fresh water” point, some bloke sleeping in a car hooked up to electric. We only planned a one night stop over but did not stay, whole place looked unsafe. Club needs to inspect it

Very poor

Just a few minutes off the M74 this site provides a useful stop off but we chose to stay two nights to look around the area. A day’s visit to The Falls of Clyde and New Lanark is definitely recommended. Sadly, this site fell well short of our expectations. It has good views but it is a small site and there are no pegged pitches which is fine on sites where there is plenty of space and the EHU points are sensibly located, however the four point EHU is in a corner of the paddock which makes it difficult to reach from some locations. The CDP falls into the ‘Ugly’ category. Precariously located on a raised concrete slab and the tap and hose for rinsing was not working when we were there. Throughout our stay the very basic toilet and shower were not cleaned at all, so we chose not to use them. Bins were overflowing throughout our stay. Adjacent to the CL is what appears to be another field of seven semi-permanent vans and motor homes and another field of tents, all of which are utilising the WC, shower and bins. It has potential but given the condition and cleanliness it is overpriced at £20 per night

Needs attention

Disappointed that for a CL it had it had 15 units plus tents separated by wire fences. New showers filthy floors and overflowing waste bins.

Ideal stopover between countries

Open scenery on CL site. Disappointing arrival as noone appeared to show us where to pitch or tell us where anything was. There was no apparent markers to distinguish where to pitch. And even when owner arrived he didnt bother to tell us where anything was just asked for his money! It was two days in before we discovered a second shower and toilet. Electricity went off several times (possibly due to more than 5 pitches!), overflowing bins which were never emptied in the five days we stayed and toilet and shower although useable smelt of damp. There was nothing available to clean either the toilet or shower therefore area was unappealing. 40 mins drive to Glasgow and using the Park and Ride at Shields Rd to use Subway to city centre attractions was a doddle! We loved spending time in Glasgow seeing all the free museams and beautiful architecture.

Stop over on tour

Saw some negative reviews glad we decided to find out for ourselves. Yes there are crumbling buildings but go beyond them and the CL is beautiful grass is kept short no clippings views all around are outstanding the peace and tranquility of the site along with the wildlife (lots of birds to watch)are a positive for us. Shower and toilet are clean . We have enjoyed 2 days here could of quite easily stayed longer as it would be an ideal base to explore the area with Glasgow and Edinburgh not far.Close to Lanark a pretty little town, with a few attractions to visit. We will certainly return to this site if we travel back to Scotland in the future.

Exactly what a farm CL should be

My 5 star rating is based on the fact this is a farm CL so is a secondary concern not a main business. Very glad we ignored the previous bad review. Access is perfectly fine, yes it's not a pristine tarmac Road but potholes aren't large and not a problem if you take it steady. You wind around a couple of old farm buildings but the manoeuvre tractors and trailers around them, our van is 34 foot and no problem for competent tower. Signs saying to just pitchup if precooked and there's a choice of 2 fields and you can pitch how you like so loads of space. Long hook up cable will give you most options. Farmer happy for you to walk dogs in any field without cattle (pick up poop). Water, waste and elsan point close by as is rubbish/recycling. Nothing wrong with the elsan point it's perfectly fit for purpose. The toilet/shower is rustic with plywood walls but both very clean and happy to use them. Grass is cut short and bits picked up, some levelling blocks may be needed. Beautiful views, great sunsets, dark skies and very peaceful. Owner will just come collect cash from you at some point. If you want a pristine site with immaculate facilities and person on hand to answer all questions then not for you. If you're expecting a farm cl and happy to figure stuff out for yourselves then this will tick your boxes. We enjoyed it much more than some of the larger sites we stayed at for much more money.

One night stop, thankfully.

We only ever use CLs and this is probably the worst. Yes it’s a rural farm site, but still….. You drive down a rough potholed road and drive. Around some derelict & collapsed buildings to the very small camping area. There were 8 units there the night we stayed. One was only 10’ from us. Someone wrote 2 years ago that they were working on the facilities. They appear to still be! We wondered how safe the remaining buildings and walls actually were. The chap who took the money was friendly enough, although didn’t ask who we were and the site was thankfully quiet, until people packed up to leave early in the morning. Not a place we’ll be returning to or would recommend.

What a great find.

I had read previous reviews and was wondering what we would find. What we did find was a working farm, a very warm welcome and a lovely place to stay. Easy access to M74 and local points of interest. We will visit again.

Basic, frendly, what more do you need.

Stopped here for two nights, perfect. Quiet site, clean, bacic toilet and shower. Also a short walk away is The Dirty Dog BBQ. A great takeaway with a typical, friendly Scottish welcome. We would definitely visit again.

Lovely CL

We just stayed here one night on our way north. I had read previous reviews so was expecting the "rustic" approach. But once round the rear, wow, what a lovely site. We pitched up against the wall with views over the farmland. Slight slope so didn't need ramps for our motor-home. We were met by the farmer who invited us to help ourselves to the abundant crop of plums next to the pitch. It was so peaceful, great nights sleep. I did use the shower which was clean and free !! This CL is only £13!! We will definitely stay here again.
