Peaceful

There are some CL's we stay on where it is so obvious that with very little work it could be so much improved. This is one of them. Having said that, we enjoyed a very peaceful stay, there is no road noise and the views are lovely. The grass was neatly cut and the boundary of stone wall and trees is very attractive. We will certainly use the site again. There is a ramp just before the pitches but our low profile waste tap was ok. There are some hardstanding areas to one side of the grass, the grassed area is slightly sloping and the long cable attached to the outlet points would be required for the far side of the site. So for my list of improvements: Paint the inside of the toilet/shower room and sweep it out occasionally. Drop the raised level of the water point/grey waste disposal point. Put a bit of screening around the CDP and look at why there is no water pressure in the rinse tap. It would be good to put an electric point at the far side of the site but I suppose this would cost a bit. There is some old farm machinery and the farm buildings are getting a bit run down but once on a pitch you don't really see these - much. Perhaps after these improvements a little more than the £10 could be charged? Follow instructions to this site as the postcode will take you to a row of houses where a very helpful lady will come out when she sees you puzzling over a map and tell you where the site is!

Lovely site with fantastic views.

We stayed only one night on our tour of Scotland but had every wish to return on our way back. Unfortunately never made it, but we can highly recommend the site. Levelling blocks required for a motorhome, but with electric provided as well as a free shower and the most wonderful views, what more could you ask for. The site owner was very friendly and is obviously working hard to make things even more pleasant in the future. I would definitely use this site again.

Lovely CL

We have just come back from our 3rd visit to this lovely CL site.  Peaceful & relaxing - and much improved from our first visit. This is a working farm as the combining & cattle show. The owner is working hard and all ready the improvements are very noticeable.  Owner very friendly and helpful.  For those arriving without a long enough Electric hook-up for far side of raised grass area a long hook-up is supplied by owner very peaceful quiet site as long as you enjoy being in the countryside, and all that goes with it - we will be back again very soon all being well

Never again!

This is one of the worst CLs we have come across in 30 years as a CC member. The site description (above) is inaccurate and misleading - this is not a "small working farm" nor has it been for at least 20 years. CL is situated behind broken-down farm buildings surrounded by redundant, rusting machinery and heaps of rubble and other rubbish. Badly sited electicity outlet points means that about half of the pitching area cannot access power without double cables. We used it to visit the wonderful "New Lanark World Heritage Site" for which this CL is very handy - otherwise, never again!

simple peaceful farm yard site and just so charming.

We've stayed here a few times now, for a quick weekend away its a farm yard with lovely views and walk straight of the back of the site, it has everything you need all be it basic at a great price, Barry the owner a really nice helpful guy and always tries his best to accommodate your needs. It is a farm so no manicured garden just short grass on the pitches and basic shower and loo, but if you like the rustic rural farm type cl, this ones a little gem.

Early Break

Enjoyed an early break of four nights mid March 2015. Site basic but excellent value for money. Very quiet with convenient access from motorway, and close to Lanark. Owners very polite and helpful, will definitely visit again.

One nighter OK

Found the site without a problem, as with other reviewers we found the entry to the site a bit off putting and a tad tight. The reception we received was welcoming and light hearted, and he was able to advise us where we could obtain a meal in Lanark. We opted for a Weatherspoons as it appeared slightly less dingy than it's nieghbours, although there was a good choice of take aways in Lanark. Toilet and shower facilities are basic, with the grey waste going in the hedge bottom, no way am I lifting a full waste container 3 feet up to empty it. For a one nighter it was more than adequate, would we return possibly.

Dog walkers delight.

Stopped here on way up to Kintyre in early May. Convenient overnight stop off M74 with good walks for the dog and peaceful surroundings. Facilities adequate at the rate charged. Would certainly use again. Watch out for the childrens play area as it has broken steps etc.

Good for a one nighter

Caravan & 2 adults £10/night with EHU. Used this as a stopover as we were travelling from South Coast to North Scotland. 10 minutes off the main road. Access was adequate but there is a tight 90 which owners of long rigs may need to take care. Toilet facilities are very basic with no heating and shared with swallows and spiders. Just a converted white-washed stone barn. Unisex use. Bins were overflowing when we were there. Grey water disposal was raised making it difficult to empty wheeled tanks. Pitches were quite tight. Would use this again as a stopover but may also checkout other CL's in the region next time.

Basic but did the job

This was our final CL site on our way back home from Hastings to Aberdeen. We found the CL easy enough with the directions in the handbook. I was not expecting much following the reviews. Yes there is a narrow road down to the farm and you do pass the falling down buildings however we managed to get through. We were booked in and when we arrived there was a motorhome and 2 vans on the grass, one of the vans was parked almost in the middle of the field which was not very helpful for folks trying to maneouvre, and a van on the hardstanding. We managed to park and set up with no problems. Chap came round and collected the money - seemed pleasant. The ground was fairly uneven but hey ho it was only for a night. We had a raspberry bush at the back of the van - forgot to try them. There was the usual chemical and water disposal and water and EHU everything we needed. There was a toilet and shower - as said before very basic and rustic - in what appears to be a shed which has beem whitewashed - it has a shower along with a toilet and the sink - very functional, reasonaly clean considering. There was a light on a timer - we were advised by a chap to take our own torch there at night as the light would go out on you. I had planned to use the shower however the swallows nest put me off! This was a cheap and cheerful site very basic, easy access off the M74 and fulfilled out needs for a one night stop over on the way hom. Would I use it again, yes, we have the facilities in our van and all we needed was a stop over. I would not personally use this for a longer stay but that is just me. Everyone has their different likes and dislikes but this place has been a CL for a long time so must be doing something right. Don't go expecting a 5* CC site this is a very basic and rustic site and if you happy showering and sharing the facilities with the wildlife then you have no worries. We had a very nice comfortable night in our van on this site what more could you ask for :-)
