Disappointing!

We arrived (with our friend and his van) to find 6 vans/motor homes already on site so we made numbers 7 & 8, and another van arrived during our stay! We did not see any owner or host over our 4 night stay but we had an email confirmation of our booking with a note asking us to put the site fees in the honesty box so we assumed this was allowed. We were left with the last two very steep sloping pitches and even with the help of wooden blocks and bricks under the jockey wheel the van was still sloping! The facilities were dirty and only just adequate, other than the toilet for none no.1's we used our van facilities because of this. We will not return.

Nice spot on a working farm

Turned up late evening after booking, it was easy to find and an easy entry into the field which is slightly sloped, chocks were used on our pitch but there are others which are a bit flatter, i didnt really affect us at all. It is set back from the road enough so you dont hear any traffic which was great, very spacious field indeed, the birds in the dawn chorus were noisy but you know ? that was fine as it is nature. A friendly welcome by the owners was given with guidance to the water fill tap which was hidden by the growth of a bush over the last few days after some rain. We had booked a table at the Ostrich Inn which by all accounts is a very fine place to dine, it didnt dissapoint. This was accesed via a walk from the pitch along paths in the adjoining fields so no road walking involved, brilliant stuff. Lots of walks for the dog were nearby as we didnt drive anywhere else for our stay (2 nights). All in all a very relaxing site, highly recommended.

Make sure no parties booked

Spent two nights at this CL location. Second night there was a huge party in the owners neighbouring field, 100m away - thumping base music from 10 pm to 5.15 am. Absolutely beyond ridiculous. Worst night the family and I have ever had - am sure the same for the other campers also. No forewarning when booking, no forewarning the day before, no apology the following day. Completely out of order.

Fantastic Spacious CL

Just spent a wonderful two weeks staying at this fantastic CL. The site is located on a large field with plenty of room for each outfit and also well set back off the busy B Road which makes the site quiet and peaceful. Whilst the toilet and showers are basic both are kept very clean and the shower runs constantly hot. The owners leave you alone to enjoy your holiday but are always available should you need any help. There are also a number of walks off the site which are very pleasant, one of which takes you to the Ostrich pub in the village. There are a number of CL's along this road all of which we have previous visited on a recce but Compton Hall is by far our favourite. Highly recommended.

Very spacious site

You literally are located in a field type location with masses of space. The electric hook ups are located around the edges where most are reasonably level although some will need levelling blocks. Toilets and shower are basic but clean. So nice to get away from the typical large site where you park just a few yards from neighbours like living in a street. Price now £15 with electric.

Things have changed

We have been coming here for years but disappointed to now see a camping site at the bottom field. This puts extra strain on the already basic facilities for the CL. Disappointing to see tents being allowed to pitch on the CL part and use the electric. Totally changed the feel and tranquility of what was a special place for us. Tents should not be allowed on a CL- we pay a membership to have access to places like this - it’s not in keeping with club rules. Sadly this will probably be our last trip.

Nice but needs a little TLC

We visited with our Motorhome for 4 nights in June. Large field wit good access, plenty of room between vans and some choice of pitching. The field is on a hill as stated but is reasonably flat at the bottom. The grass was quite long when we arrived but was mowed on the 3rd day. currently charging £15/nt, we got a nice welcome from the owner, who explained that milk was available from the post office in the next village. We used the toilet and shower daily, these could definitely do with a lick of paint and a mirror/shelf in the shower, but the water was hot and not complaining at 50p. We enjoyed our stay and would visit again.
