Handy for Chester

£18 is a great price take into account the pitch includes EHU, freshwater tap and putting your grey water into the hedge. Hardstanding pitch, grass open later in the season. Cycled from the CL to Chester on our bikes, 7 miles. Part of the route was along the cycle path alongside the River Dee. Nice and flat and peaceful. Plenty to see in Chester. Roman history, architecture all around you and plenty of shops. Shower and toilet available. Busy working farm with the whole family involved. Overall enjoyed our stay and will return. Walter’s cafe in Higher Kinnerton is a must. Many thanks

Relaxing Stay

The CL directions to the site were much better than following our sat nav. @ £18 PN it’s a steal when you take into account the pitch includes EHU, freshwater tap and putting your grey water into the hedge. Hardstanding used and no level blocks require. Bonus!! Cycled from the CL to Chester on our electric bikes with the toy poodles in the front baskets. Part of the route was along the cycle path alongside the river Dee. Nice and flat and peaceful. Plenty to see in Chester. Roman history, architecture all around you and plenty of shops. Shower was a bit hit and miss. Maybe me but couldn’t get hot water some days even when using the same settings on the electric shower as the previous day when it was fine. Great to see the cows giving birth in the field. Something you don’t see everyday. Overall enjoyed our stay and would return. Thanks.

Excellent Site

Super site, great welcome and fabulous hosts. Plenty of room for our nine meter van plus tow car. Spotless toilet and shower rooms and I must mention the friendly farm dog who loves to play fetch. This site is now in my favourites list, we will be back.

Delightful, friendly site

We stayed here for 4 nights in mid July, in a heat wave. The site is tidy, well kept and well set up. The toilet and shower were a bonus and were clean and of good standard. It was close to some friends and the owners were very happy for us to entertain them on site one evening. The local area is interesting, walking is fantastic and we had an interesting visit to Erddigg, National Trust - but do check the house is open before you go as it isn’t every day.

Great CL

We stayed here for a couple of weeks while waiting to move into a bungalow in Chester. I was surprised to find that everyone that we met on the site was there for reasons other than holidays! There was a friendly welcome from everyone in the family, including the dog! You could easily be entertained for your whole stay playing "fetch" with the dog. We used one of the hard standings and got our motorhome almost level. With the EHU and water just behind the pitch it was easy to set up and have access to these facilities. The toilet and shower were clean and easily accessible. The farm is on a narrow country road and care is needed when leaving the site due to a restricted view. Well worth a visit.

Perfect CL

Stayed for a short weekend break in May 2021. Greeted by Mrs Curtis on arrival and made to feel very welcome. The site has a mix of hard standings and grass pitches, all serviced with EHU and running water. The Toilet and Shower we immaculately clean. My 10 year old son took to the lovely Mindy (the working farm dog) who both spent a lot time playing together :-) With a mix of Broughton's retail shopping or Chester one way and then the stunning North Wales scenery the other - there's something for everyone close-by! We will definitely return and maybe try a long weekend next time.

A Gem of a site

We always use certified sites and this one ranks at the top of the list. Greeted and shown to our site on arrival. The site is well laid out with open views down a lawned area which is most pleasing. There is a well kept shower and toilet. The owners are always friendly and helpful even though they are busy farmers. Note this site is in Wales in relation to Covid restrictions. Just off the A55 you are in easy reach of Chester, the North Wales Coast and Southern Cheshire. Local shops and pubs within 1-1.5 miles at Higher Kinnerton or Broughton. I Feel we should keep this site a secret as it is so lovely but hope all enjoy.

Tidy, quiet farm site

Tidy, quiet site on a working farm run by a very friendly family. Choice of hard standing, or grass in dryer conditions. One toilet and separate shower spotlessly clean. Easy walk into village of Kinnerton for shops and two very good, dog friendly pubs. Well recommended.

Lovely short stay

We were escorted to our pitch by an obviously very hard working member of the family - he/she had to be gently encouraged with a timely throw of a ball to allow us to reverse safely onto the pitch :) Lovely quiet farm, well maintained and level pitches - would definitely stay again

Fantastic!!

Arrived mid-afternoon Wednesday 5th Feb 2020 to be met by the Farm/Site owner, Peter Curtis. Despite the Farm being his main source of income, he immediately stopped what he was doing to welcome us and ensure that we had everything we needed and were happy with the pitch. Later the same day we met his wife Alison together with one of their daughters. They are a lovely family who make you welcome and do all they can to ensure you have a good time. Access is by way of a sharp left turn into the Farm yard off a Country Lane. The site itself is a self-contained paddock adjacent to the main farm and has 5 Hard-standing (level) Pitches which are well spaced and serviced with both Water and Electric Hook up's. There's also a small Children's play area with a couple of swings, slide and climbing frame. As this is working Farm you can't wander around too much but the main barn adjacent to the site housed a number of young calves (one only three days old) and lamb's and we were able to see them up close (escorted by the family's two working Sheepdog's who are also excellent as night-time Site Security). A single shower room and separate WC are available if required. The Elsam point is readily accessible and there is a good opportunity to do your bit for the environment by separating cardboard and plastic's into the separate boxes situated by the waste bins. When leaving the site, purely and simply for safety it's worth asking your passenger to act as 'spotter' because the wall of the barn makes visibility to the right almost non-existent (this is not a complaint, simply a safety point worth making). The Roman city of Chester is 15mins drive away; the National Trust 'Erdigg' site is also only 20mins away and well worth a day from anyone's life (House opens next month but extensive gardens and parkland grounds are open now). Liverpool City Centre is only 40mins away and readily accessible via the A55/M53/Mersey Tunnel (toll of £1.80 each way). Mold Town Centre is 15mins away and has a good market on Wednesday's and Saturday's. Local shopping is available at nearby Broughton (Tesco/Aldi/McD's etc) and for any Aircraft enthusiast's the 'Chock's Away' Diner is located on the Aviation Park adjacent to the AIrbus A380 Factory West Gate. The food and service is good (£4.95 for Small Breakfast including Tea and Toast) and it's a great opportunity to watch the daily arrival/departure of the Airbus Beluga transport plane together with various private jets and small planes. It's been a great weekend despite Storm Ciara's best efforts and to top everything off, Peter and Alison have happily allowed us to leave our unit on site until the winds die down enough to bring her home back to the Wirral. Lovely people with a fabulous location. Can highly recommend a visit and in fact, we'll be back for an extra-long weekend in 10 days time with the Grandchildren.
